Okay here are some pics of our two hydrangeas we have here.
The blue one was bought at a nursery and is two years old - it was from a 5 gal pot.
The pink one was one of those you get that are gifts that really aren't ones you plant but it is two years old also..

Tammy,
I got one of those pink ones for my birthday in February. The flowers fell off, but I have it transplanted into a larger pot and it's starting to get some leaves. I hope it will do as well as yours. I love pink. Your plants are beautiful. Hydrangeas are great plants.
The blue has got to be one of my favorite flowers- every time I see one I awwwwwwwwww..... :)

I think, with hydrangeas, we always seem to want the color that is not "usual" in our type of soil. My family home had a yard with four huge blue flowered bushes, so I always covet the pink ones!
shabbychick - I'm glad you said that about the flowers falling off your "gift hydrangea". I wasn't quick enough to transplant the one I got for Mother's Day, and the flowers are all crispy...the leaves are fine though, and I'm wondering if it will get more flowers this season.

My lace point is just starting to bloom. We've had such cool weather here I may actually get to enjoy it before the sun burns the leaves.
Tammy yours are beautiful!

I really really really want some green ones..but I don't have the patience to do the soil crud to them so I plant them and let them be what color they do.
Oh I also would love some annabelle big white ones..

This year I'm going to try to find some of that product that you spray on the flowers when you cut them so that they'll dry without getting all crumbly. My bush looks like it's going to produce a lot of flowers this year (if it ever stops raining) so I'm looking to cut a lot of the blooms to bring inside.

Did you ever try unscented hair spray, shabbychick? That's what my mother used to use on hydrangeas and money plants. (If only I had a money TREE...) :o

I haven't tried the unscented hairspray yet. I did find a product online last year (that I haven't bought) that they swear preserves hydrangeas so well that the look fresh. I might look that up again and give it a try. If I can't find it, I'll give the hairspray a try and see what happens. When I was growing up, all our interior flowers were plastic, so I never learned how to treat anything that came in out of the garden.
