Not exactly a thrift store find but an antique store 'score'...I collect vintage Catholic votive holders and today I found another red glass holder in perfectly 'gently used' condition! It was marked as a red glass vase with metal holder but being the wayward Catholic girl I am(:) I knew right away that it was an old altar votive holder! In this particular case an old red vase is a lot cheaper than an old red votive holder!
Any other "Friday Finds?"

Not sure how to add pictures to this site so I hope it is okay if I c & p'd my flikr account pics. Haven't updated that site in a long time but I think my votive holders are on the last page and the one I found today is just like the cobalt blue one I've had for several years. Now I have two red ones! Hope this works!

Wow it must be cool. Me being non-Catholic and therefore not knowing better would have thought it was a great vase. :p

Danske, I checked out your flicker pics, I see we have a collector in our mist :).
I also have some of those fish floats that I found in my folks house when we were cleaning it out. I have no idea how they acquired them.
Also love all your mercury glass, another one of my favs. I'll have to go thru your pics again.
Great stuff!
Danske- Thank you for sharing all those lovely photos-your home, your collections are just beautiful- and very very special the holders.
I will browse through them again- because you have so many things to look at... ;):)

Hi Evelyn! Thank You for your nice comments! The silver balls were a labor of love...I had gathered lots of vintage balls in many different colors & sizes. One by one I washed off the color that was on top to reveal the silver mercury. You had to be very careful because if water got inside the ball would have to be thrown out. A couple of years ago some new brain cells kicked in and it hit me how about just searching out old SILVER colored mercury balls...HELLO:)

Thank You everyone for your nice comments. I'm a walking living breathing dichotomy...I want simplicity and minimalism with a splash of Scandinavian & Asian but yet I ran out of horizontal display real estate in the late 80's....
