It has it's Paprika Red paint and shimmery gold curtains and we will be adding the furniture in the next few days. I'm SOOOOO happy. :D It's such a little room, but I am proud of it. This is the first house I have lived in that I can decorate to MY own taste. I'll post before and after pics in a few days.

How fun!!! Red is my favorite color. It also stimulates the appetite, so is a good color for dining rooms and kitchens:D

I kind of wish that I was single. Then I could really go crazy with the decorating. I remember that feeling of getting to paint what ever and wherever I wanted. It is soooo cool.
can't wait to see the pics. :)

Well right now I am scrubbing a hutch that I inherited so it can go in the new dining room. I was 1 year old when my mom and dad got it so I guess I grew up with it! Both my parents smoked and there is a TON of residue on the poor thing from all that nicotene. But it is worth saving, so I broke out the Murphy's Oil Soap. I think it may be made of cherry......

Well you don't have to see it just in you head any longer! Here's the pics I promised! The full on picture was taken from the living room. The table with the stereo on it will become our Icon corner. And the old hutch I inherited came out really well! Took a lot of scrubbin' though.

It's beautiful! I love your shimmery curtains. They look really nice against the red wall. The hutch is a great piece, too. By icon corner, are you talking about the religious icons like from the Russian Orthodox church? My sister has a little corner in her livingroom with a couple of contemporary icons, a cross, and some nice candles. It's a pretty little corner. Thanks for the pictures. They really are worth a thousand words.
Just beautiful! Red is one of my favorite colors- and with the rich wood furniture, and accents- you'll love this for years!

Yep, religious Icons like in the Russian Orthodox church. Except we go to a parish in the Orthodox Church of America. Most Orthodox Christian churches the same Liturgy except for a few different traditions here and there, all of our services are in English. So we would be welcome in a Russian church or a Greek church.
Alot of our Icons have gold on them, so they will look awesome next to the red!

I keep setting in my living room, looking at my dining room, and saying to myself, "How pretty!" I brought the red into the living room by using beautiful brick red sheers on the windows and by buying some throw pillows with some red in the pattern. My kitchen (which is still in progress) will be in yellow, borrowing from the gold curtains in the dining room. I wanted the different colors to "flow" from room to room. Man, I'm such a decorating geek! :)

I think being able to sit and admire a room in your own home (as opposed to one in a magazine) is a real luxury. It's a real mood-booster to be that happy with the space you live in. I think that's why I enjoy redecorating and rearranging all the time. I hope you'll post some more pictures!

farmgal, it's just beautiful! I'd be sitting in my livingroom staring at it, too! The color is perfect and the hutch looks great in there. I also like the drop-leaf table that is over against the wall. You have some very pretty plates hanging up~I'm a sucker for plates!

We have a store around here called Family Dollar. I got those curtains there for $5.00 a pair! They used to have tassles hanging from the points on the valance part, but they came apart in the wash. I DID buy them at the dollar store, after all. :) But I found some lovely beads at our Wal-Mart and I strung them and then sewed them to where the tassles were hanging. I like it!
