I don't know about anyone else, but as the days are getting cooler and the nights longer, I start to think about Autumn. It is my favorite season. I have a few rituals. I like to get ready for "nesting" and I decorate season to season. I get ready to plant some autumn mums in a few pots for my front door. I go through boxes in storage and get out items I had forgotten about. I pull out the cookbooks and start planning comfort food items for my oven and crock-pot.

What are yours?

I like to change out the candles and decorate with autumn colors. I put throws on the couch and chair and add some table decorations.
I love autumn too.:)

I like to burn incense in early fall... when I can put it by the windows and the scent can waft out freely and mingle with the apple tree.

I pull out some of my decorating items that are darker hues of the pink, lime green, and yellow I usually use. In fact, I just spray painted a basket that was a very 80's teal with raspberry colored paint, then sprayed a walnut stain for flowers over it, so it darkened it right up and made it look autumnal. I'll put pumpkins or something in it. I have a LOT of Partylite autumn decorations that I'll pull out and put up before the end of the month. I'll be switching things out this next week so I can have a "regular" autumn type theme for September, then do Halloween in October, back to autumn with a Thanksgiving accent for November, then on to Xmas (and my second year with my pink tree!!).

I can just smell the apples now! I have a few pots that I've been meaning to Modpodge for months now. The time has come.

I don't start with heavier fabrics until Oct. Seattle can still have 70+ weather until Oct/Nov some years. I'll replace the ticking fabric on my wing-back chair with a heavier (probably flannel) cover. The lace curtains will come down and the dark demin will go up. Rag rugs will cover the wood floors, I'll trim the wick in a oil lamp and take down the candlesticks and put them around.

There is also a old movie I love to watch every fall, Friendly Persuasion (1956)
Farming, harvests, country fairs, love and family (among other things)

I can taste the apple cider now! Mmmmm!

Unlike the rest of you I'm dreading fall. :o However I do change the candle scents to reflect the season so when it shows up here it will probably warm vanilla or somehting. I also have a pumpkin type of candle to burn on the times I need a little pick me up. :)

Fall is my favorite also! Years ago I used to change window treatments, sofa cushion covers, even pictures. Now I change the bedding (but won't do until October), a few pieces of furniture get moved around and the fall throw pillows come out. Of course, I get back into the lighting of "fall" candles every afternoon and the oven is allowed back on after mid-September!

BTW, we have 2 sons and their families living in the Seattle area and it is one of my favorite cities! Love it!!!

I like to switch out my fall wreaths. I have one on the front of the house and one on the side door. My gardens are kind of helping in the fall decorating outside this year, because plants I planted last fall are coming into color, the decorative grasses are getting big, the mums are huge and are popping up flowers now, the sunflowers are still blooming, the roses are doing really well. Even my vegetable garden is doing well despite the lack of rain.
I'm looking for a slipcover for my new sofa, because it looks very nautical and summery, but I'll figure it out. I have throws to put out and the quilts will switch to comforters when the weather gets cool enough. Too hot now.

Our heatwave finally broke this weekend (at least for now), and the weather was amazing. Crisp and cool with a lovely breeze. I am dying to decorate for Fall. But I wait until the first week of October, as the Fall decorations are out until Thanksgiving, and than the Christmas decorations come out. :)

I adore the new laundry scent I ordered from Carrie. It is the holiday scent. It makes me want to do laundry - almost :) Maybe I should just put it in a bowl and smell it while watching tv...that would avoid doing laundry. :_

I got out my apple cider candles today~love the way they make the house smell. It's been fairly warm, but with the time change, it will start feeling more like winter around here.

Our weather has been so bazaar lately. One day it is cold and the next we are in the 100's again:eek: But the nights are cooling down and with the time change, it definately is beginning to feel like Fall. I put away the Halloween decorations and now have Fall/Thanksgiving decorations up and I just love it. I also pulled out all my fall candles. Last night my daughter and I curled up on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate. I love this time of year:D

I got out all my Thanksgiving stuff, too, and put away Halloween. It's chilly tonight, so I'm sitting in front of the fireplace. I took some pics of my decorations, so I'll try to post them this week. This is such a lovely time of year.
