Ladies the green living area is seriously infected with spam. I'm steering clear of it for awhile so if anyone posts in there I for one probably won't notice. This is ridiculous!

Ditto~and it's buried in several other areas, too. Everybody be careful what you click on!

I'll check with Clev if there are more spam filters to add although I know he updated it recently. Sadly, spam is inevitable no matter what you do. We could assign a senior member (or two?) to have access to delete per the suggestion.
Nominees? Volunteers?
Many thanks - !

I would be more than happy to volunteer to do this. I can check daily and purge as necessary. I won't have access to internet for a couple of weeks starting around September 9th to about the 27th, but after that I could check daily:) Just let me know.

I'll volunteer as well. I usually check the board several times a day anyway.

I was on a Bird forum years ago before my little Parrolet died of old age. We had a Super Moderator and it was the V-bulletin format. I think I remember that the moderators computer has to be linked with the site some special way????
Moderating is not just chopping the spammers heads off it is also acting as a go between when the posters have issues( between each other sometimes). Remember the girl that got mad at us and thought we were taste-less idiots and left in a huff? That was years ago. Remember her Rosemary? I forgot her name. She had a cabin???
We don't get mad here and disagree thank goodness. The bird site had lots of arm chair veterinarians and wanna-be bird trainers.
I guess I am saying this because the bird site moderators we had were level-headed and kind. The power to moderate is a huge responsiblity.
Absolute power corrupts:p:D
Love to be a volunteer also-Count me in - to helping this forum "spam" free.

I hear what you're saying, Memmey. I own a Yahoo group and have to act as a mediator at times for list disputes as well as doing the usual housekeeping. Luckily, Yahoo has pretty good spam filters. However, I think on this list, even with supermoderator status, a person could understand that their job is only to deal with spam and let the C&B people deal with everything else. I don't think anyone here wants to be "in charge," so to speak. If someone can just smite the spammers, that's all they'd need to do.

Wow. What have the spammers done? Unreal. I see clothing knockoffs in every folder. I wish I had my ban hammer here, but I only have one on my forum. I feel a song coming on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwy2MPT5RE

Oh, Carrie, that is soooo funny~thanks for sharing it!
Memmey, I remember the girl you mean. Wasn't her little place in the Adirondacks? I remember that we weren't the right kind of 'cottage' people. I hope she found a group that suited her:p.

Great comments/suggestions. We'll decide and let you know.
For now I think it's cleared but let me know if you find any we didn't catch.
Many thanks!
