Last Friday, I stopped in the flea market before doing my grocery shopping. I found a couple of 'treasures' that I really love.

The little cat and book planter is Royal Copley. I'm not sure what year he was made, but he was just too cute to pass by. As you can see, I still haven't cleaned the dirt out of his book planter. I paid $4.50 for him.

The platter is 11"x15" and is Paden City Pottery. I don't know the pattern or the year, but the company, out of Paden City, WV, closed in the 1950s. I paid $8 for the platter.

Great finds! The platter is gorgeous. Are you going to use it or just display it? I always buy these great dishes thinking how perfect they'll be for serving, and then I don't want to put food in them to cover up the patterns or take a chance on someone scratching them with a spoon. As a consequence, I have a lot of stuff for display and no so much for actual eating.

The planter is adorable, too. Do you plan to plant something in it? My mom had some similar planters when I was a kid. That was back when we put plastic flowers in everything, so I don't think they ever held a real plant. My mom wasn't much for houseplants for some reason.

Love your finds. I went to the boats over the weekend. I won $200 so I have some cash to do a little shopping. :D

Rosemary- I don't seem to have many flea markets to go to around here, BUT the thrift shops are wonderful! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to browse around for hours.

The old-fashioned animal figurines have such charm...and the kitty that you found is no exception - he is really adorable, RoseMary!

The colors on the platter are so soft and pretty. I'd say that you had a very worthwhile flea marketing trip! :)

What wonderful finds! I went out of town for the weekend and went to a couple of my favorite antique stores, and a muffler shop that has yard sales. The mother of the man who owns the muffler shop has been a collector for years and is starting to sell off her collection. I have not taken pics yet, as we just got home last night, but I found the following:

Muffler Shop
5 adorable teacup/mugs - little blond princess holding a wand $2 for all
1950's metal breadbox $5

Antique Stores
Air Raid Sign from the closed San Pedro Naval Docks $10
Metal Tray - Red and White flower pattern $6
Cherry Pie Keeper $2
Pink 1950's large round thermos $20
Yellow and White mixing bowl for my vintage 1940's mixer $4
Mirror with fortunes and weights from the top of a vintage scale - This was a really interesting and unique find. These are the old scales that you found in stores where you put in money and it gave you your weight and fortune. The bottom part of the upright scale was missing, they only had the top mirror. $12

I will try and get some pics tonight. It was a very good "hunting" trip;):D

The kitty planter is adorable..I remember having things like that around the house when I was a little girl....now everything is plastic and not so cute.

Are you going to put a little plant in it?

I think it would be cute with a plant in it--but the part that holds the dirt is so small, I'm not sure what kind of plant would live in it. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I know what you mean about everything being plastic these days, Marie. I'm trying to get away from it for most of my things.
