Newest issue (Feb/Mar ?)

Just saw the latest issue at Lowe's. Once again, I browsed through it but didn't buy it. :( I didn't see anything that was do-able for my little house. I hate it when a place is showcased that the owners condescendingly call a cottage when in reality -- I should say MY reality -- it's a mansion.

The last issue I've bought was the November one, which I really loved. I spent a long time reading it and studying the pictures.

Ha ha, I know it! I think a lot of it is "cottage style" or "bungalow style." I remember reading a different magazine article about "being green on a budget" - the *landscaping* budget alone was $100,000 and the house had 8 bedrooms! I about fell over laughing and then wrote the magazine to do an article when we built about a "real" budget. Strangely they never contacted me!

I'm a subscriber to Cottages and Bungalows, so I got this issue. I'm somewhat of a magazine addict, though. Heh.

I love magazines too! AND they're so hard to throw away. Browse one time and see something- go back in a month and they're always something interesting I seem to have missed.

Now you've hit a nerve, Gigi! I canNOT throw away a good magazine! I've tried, really I have. I've also tried to tear out for an inspiration folder....never works for me, because there's always something on the other side of the page that I "NEED" !

I quit buying c & B in dec. It's become an expensive decorating mag. I was surprised when I got a bill yesterday for $29.95 for my one year subscription I don't like c & b anymore, why would I subscribe? I called the 800 number and was on hold for 15 minutes. Finally my call was answered by an overseas sounding answering message. Crappy job Beckett. I won't be buying any of your mags anymore.

I remember seeing that and liked it too, but there wasn't much explaining about the restoration.

Today I was back in Lowe's and was looking at a different magazine about kitchens and baths. A cover article caught my eye, something like "a kitchen remodel for two different budgets." Cool, I thought, maybe something do-able. Well, the lower budget was $44K and the higher one was $72K. Just for a kitchen! No can do.
