Has anybody done this? I don't know why but I want to layer a large square mirror and a slightly smaller round mirror over my fireplace. I'm thinking of painting the frames the same colour (black?) over a white pained brick fireplace with (I just thought of this - this morning...) the silver metal glass door painted with high-heat spraypaint in black too. Oh I dunno, it's still early......

I've never done this, but I've seen it done in books and magazines. Are you planning to lean them up against the wall on the mantel or actually hang them on the wall? Either way would look neat. You could mount the bigger one on the wall, then suspend the smaller one from a chain (or ribbon, if it's light enough, maybe) above that so it hangs down and is centered on the larger one. That could look very nice. If you're just leaning them against the wall, then you could experiment with the placement of the smaller one so it looks just right with the other stuff on your mantel. Maybe you could supplement the whole look with the black-framed black-and-white pictures. I hope you'll send us a photo of the finished look. I like the idea of painting the fireplace door trim black as well.

Oh I like the way you're thinkin!
Actually, my "theme" in my living room is black and white pictures of my family...... :)
Thanks!

Love the idea. I found this pic doing a similar thing but with frames layering a mirror. Then this is a different take on layering.

airsides ~ I've seen the layered mirror look in mags and it's a neat look. I also like your idea of painting the frames and fireplace silver metal door black. Please post some pics when it's done.:)

I do love the layered mirrors, especially with the fresh flower arrangements in front of them.

I posted a pic of my birdbath table here (http://www.cottagesandbungalowsmag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27&page=14). And I thought I was the only person who had done that! :p

Thanks for sharing the link!

Zuzu, is that YOUR birdbath or one from a magazine? Oh my gosh how gorgeous!

Lynzee did you see those other pics too on that webpage? I love the look but I'm afraid it's too "romantic" for my house - more boys than girls here.

The bird bath table in the Tiny House thread is mine. I bought it years ago because the base has three children (and I'm a sentimental softy - I have three children).

I can't go overboard with the all-white romantic look even though I LOVE it, because, hey, Hubby lives here too! But he did help me frame and hang "Midsummer's Eve" last week. It came to a complete surprise to me - he likes it as much as I do!

I have that slideshow bookmarked and look at it all the time. I love all of the rooms! Fortunately, hubby doesn't care what the room around him looks like as long as it doesn't affect his view of the TV, so I don't worry about whether or not it is too "romantic". :)
