Hi y'all. I was just browsing the used website here and boy, are there ever alot of entertainment centers for sale! I suppose it's because everybody's getting those flat screen tvs now and plopping them on those Ikea-type benches. We haven't plunged ahead on one of those new-fangled tv's yet (although I threatened my hubby the next time he's in the dog house I'm going to go buy one with his credit card....) So what is going to happen to all these entertainment centers? I surfed on the web and one website had painted one into a laundry room organizer but what else do you think you could do? Any ideas?
Thanks,
~ Heather with the same old oak entertainment center everybody else has with a CRT tv but probably by the end of the weekend have it painted into something else unless my hubby takes me out to dinner somewhere fancy enough I have to wear makeup.

One of our tv's is sitting on an oak coffee table my stepdad made for me. It has a shelf with the vcr and receiver on it, works out great. I never liked the big entertainment centers.
Hmm, any way to put shutters on one of the opening?

we added shelves to the inside of ours and my husband uses it to store his clothes. The flat screen is on an antique drop leaf table until I find the right piece.
My husband recently bought a flat screen tv which wouldn't fit inside our armoire. So we put the armoire in the kids room to hold their stuffed animals and books, and our CD's and DVD's.
The TV stand I wanted was over $1000.00 plus shipping. We just couldn't justify spending that kind of money at the moment. SO we used the old dresser that was in our bedroom that we had to move out since my in laws gave us their bedroom furniture. We use the PS3 for our games, movies and CD's so we have it standing on it's side behind the TV. I put all of my cottage, home and gardening mags and arts and crafts stuff in the drawers. So it all worked out in the end.

I've seen where people have turned them into storage in their bedrooms (armoire) with doors added to the front. Come to think of it I may have seen it done on Design on a Dime.:o
