Hi everyone! I've been lurking around the past couple days checking out pictures, and decided to finally introduce myself. I am the proud owner (along with my husband) of a 1912 Craftsman bungalow in Washington. The one year anniversary of owning it was just this weekend, and we have spent our first year working our butts off...
Here are some pictures of the exterior to give you an idea of what it looks like :D
BTW, my name is Michelle and I am really looking forward to reading and posting more!

Welcome, Michelle! I'm in Western Washington (Everett). Your house is gorgeous! I love the color. I bet you've had a blast decorating it over the last year. What projects have you been working on? What do you have planned next? Thanks for sharing the pictures! I hope you'll enjoy it here on the forum.

Hi shabbychick!!
It seems like there are a ton of Washintonians on here :D I love the color too, but I know it's not historically accurate... We are thinking of painting is within the next couple years, but I do love the yellow. Since March 2010, these are the major improvements:
-New high efficiency HVAC system
-Tore out disgusting carpet to reveal gorgeous original floors
-New electrical panel
-Rewired some of the house
-Stripped the painted/textured beams on the main floor
-Landscaping
-Replaced the glass in a couple broken windows
-Ran power to the garage
-Created an access to the attic
-Some painting
-Installed a state of the art security system
-Wired several security lights and a security camera
-New 6' cedar privacy fence
-And many more small projects
Basically this year last year was used to make the house more liveable and hopefully this year we will be able to make some more aesthetic changes.
Hopefully this year we will (at least):
-Finish stripping the beams/woodwork on the main floor and stain them.
-Scrape the texture off the ceiling
-Build some flower boxes around the new fence in the backyard
-Install gutters and rain chains
-Possibly paint some more
-Refinish the floors
1. Before: The original wood beams with ceiling texture and paint on them
2. During: What the beams looked like after we stripped all that cr*p off of them. We still have not completed these, but they look a lot better without paint on them.
3. The beams in the 1930's. This is our goal :) Gorgeous...

Welcome! I'm in central WA and have a "revival" bungalow (i.e., new build, lol). Looks like you've done a lot of wonderful work.

Wow, you have been busy! It's great that you have pictures of the original interior so you know what you're aiming for. What a gorgeous ceiling! What a nice surprise to pull up carpeting and find lovely flooring!

You have been busy and just to let you know- it never ends :)
Your house is beautiful - and I love the color--who cares if it isn't historically appropriate..Time means change even to old homes. They don't stand still they progress like people.
Gotta say- those trees are huge out front.
Welcome..

Yeah, they are. We trimmed the bottom 4 feet of them this past week and are eventually (probably) going to have them cut down. But right now, they provide so much privacy because we live on a busy road.
We will also be putting a picket fence this summer, so maybe that will give us a reason to cut them down...

Is that stained glass ceiling light a Tiffany creation? I know they have used a dragonfly motif.

I honestly think it is a replica. It came with the house, but while we were cleaning it, I found a $12 garage sale sticker on it :p The previous owner did not own very many nice things, so I definitely don't think it's actually Tiffany. We like it anyways :)

I love the exterior of your house. It looks to be in good shape. Those evergreens in the front of your house are huge. We don't have evergreens that big in the Midwest.:) The beams are starting to look good. I know it's a pain working on the ceiling and beams but the end result will be beautiful.

Welcome! Love your house, and you must be so proud of how your "baby" is coming along. I live in a 1950 cottage-style house but miss the 1910 Craftsman bungalow we had several moves ago.
Keep us posted!
