I thought I would share a couple pics of my dogs. We had a rainy week and they took their afternoon naps when the daycare kiddies were napping. It took them a couple trys to find that perfect "nap spot".

They are SO spoiled....they always lay on the warm clothes and will lay there until I pull the last piece out from under them. I actually let Holly sleep on the pile of clothes for a while, I didn't have the heart to make her move.

They are so cute, Marie! I love the picture of the one in the basket:).

How adorable! I'm with RoseMary - I love the one in the basket (the other one is cute too!). I didn't see the basket sleeper right away! What are their names?
The print on your loveseat (I think that's what it is) is SO pretty!

Holly is in the basket and on the clothes on floor. She is 10. She is a Boston terrior/Jack Russell mix. We got her from my dad for Christmas....(it was planned).
Jackie is in the rocking chair. She is a Jack Russell. She is 7. She is kind of a rescue dog in a way.....My dad got her from his neighbor who had to move and couldn't take her to an apartment. Dad kept her in a pen outside and didn't pay much attention to her. One weekend my kids asked if Jackie could come spend the weekend with us. So we took her home and 2 weeks later I told dad I was sorry we hadn't returned Jackie yet. My dad said I don't want her back". I thought oh no, we hadn't planned on 2 dogs. The kids and I wanted her, but Dave didn't. I took the kids to my moms (my parents were divorced), and told Dave to either take Jackie back to dad's house while we were gone, or if we came home and she was still here we keep her. We came home and she was still here. lol It all worked out. My dad died 5 months later from lung cancer.
The Couch.....I call this my Grandma Keck couch.....she always had "flowered stuff.

Thanks for telling us the story of Jackie, Mac78...I'm so glad you kept her! And from the looks of things, Holly and Jackie get along well. :)
I probably would have loved your Grandma Keck's house! :D
The sad part was about your Dad's passing...my condolences on your loss.

I probably shouldn't tell this, but my dogs pretty much follow me everywhere.....from potty to shower.....they will just sit there and wait for me to be done. lol Jackie is a beggar, and whenever she hears anyone in the kitchen, she is under your feet. I swear she knows the "sound" of the fridge opening. When I am at the computer, one of them is usually on my feet, and the other on laying beside me. The are definately my best buddies.

Aren't our pets just wonderful??
I don't doubt Jackie knows the sound of the refrigerator! Any time my cats hear some sort of crinkling, they think it's their treat bag, and come from wherever they are - suddenly, there are three little faces looking at me!
I'm very happy you have opened your home to your pets...it's a win/win situation for all of you! :)

My pets follow me every where too. My big, chubby Golden sleeps outside the bathroom door while I shower. I have to shove the door to open it when I'm finished.
One of my dogs is elderly and on a lot of medications. I hide his pills in chunks of chicken breasts so he'll eat them. When the pets (cat included) hear me open the pill bottle, they all come running. In pet language the sound of pills = chicken treats!
My old doggie is stiff with arthritis. (I am too, so I have lots of sympathy). The other day, I washed both of his doggie blankets. While they were still hot from the dryer, I laid one on the floor. He promptly hopped right on top. Then I covered him with the second blanket. I swear, I didn't know the old dog could make such sound of utter contentment. He was one happy guy. It made me smile.

Lisa...it was so nice to hear about your pet family too! They're such good company, aren't they?
I loved the part about your putting down that warm doggy blanket, and covering your pal with the second one...that must have been absolute HEAVEN for him!

I think "cottage" people tend to love planting tomatoes and roses ... as well as having cats rub against their legs in the morning or sleeping by their feet at night ... our yards are happiest if there is a loving little friend inquiring into our mischief like it is a new adventure. Precious pictures ...

You're absolutely right, Jenny! I think it's our sensitivity, on all levels.
I truly hope tomorrow will be a better day for you! :)

I don't know about the cat part, I'm really annoyed with mine right now. But I hear ya on the dogs, when it is chilly in my house and the dryer is going I get a parade following me from the laundry room to the couch. :p
ChapterTwo
05-02-2009, 10:16 PM
What are your cats up to, chyna?

What aren't my cats up too!!! Clawing my pear trees (and then reaching above the bird netting to claw above it), clawing up the kitchen floor mats, hanging out side my bedroom window mewing to be let in to just lead me downstairs to the back door:rolleyes:, begging for food even though there is food sitting there, the female keeps swiping at my dogs with her claws out (they are hairless dogs) and fighting with the neighbor cat. I reallly wish my dad wasn't born in a barn and kept leaving my doors open, those cats were supposed to be indoor cats.
I've recently realized, I'm not a cat person. My mom (the cat lady) is horrified.:p
Mac your dogs are just precious- I love seeing pics of pets--especially when they look soooooooo comfortable. I wouldn't have moved them either!
Awwwwwwwww Lisa a warm blanket right out of the dryer- I feel sleepy just thinking of that.
More pics of everyone's pets!

At the risk of alienating the whole board, I'll attach a pic of me and my three best friends. This was last week after a tough day in the trenches!

Two of those pups look like they'd really like to sample that drink you're holding! There's nothing better than putting your feet up with a cold drink and a loyal pet at the end of a long day.
