I absolutely love your porch. Is your patio cement? If not, what is is made out of. Looks very nice.

somebody mentioned that your house is green (sage) not grey like they thought. I second that! I thought your place was grey too, it is beautiful not matter what color it is. :)

The patio is brick- light colored brick - right now with tons of pollen on it. When it is pressure washed it looks much better.

And the house is a sagey green. I'll try to get a better picture today of it...it does come across as gray in the pics..hmmm

and here is the attachment of the front porch that didn't come out on that last post.

I totally envy you. I absolutely love your porch. I could take some good summer naps there. So homey and welcoming.

Mac -

funny you mention napping. My oldest goes out there with the laptop and then sets it down and falls asleep. I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter- my son - then 2 would snuggle as close as he could get to a big bellied mom and we'd nap on the porch. Ahh memories.

Gigi-

We aren't too far apart - the same shore just mine is farther south. Once you get settled and sell that big farm house- which my husband was jealous of last night we'll have to plan an antique weekend.

Thanks for the pictures of your porches. It was just like looking at a Cottage Living photo! You've done a wonderful job decorating out there, and it looks like you've got some nice views as well. You must have a great time hanging around out there when the weather's nice. A big porch is definitely on my list for the next house I live in.

Beautiful porches! I wish I could come over for a cup of coffee. I'd sleep on your back porch in the summer.

Tammy - love the porches! We have a porch that's not real big but we do love sitting out there watching the world go by. I like to do my crosswords out there or look at magazines.
It has to be very hot & humid to keep us from sitting out there.

cheapdiva- visit whenever it floats your boat. I am open. Just give me a couple days notice so I can clean - haha

love my front porch but once the misquitos come out we hit the back porch with the screens..our misquitos are lovingly called ptyerdactls (sorry can't spell that one off the top of my head)

Here our porch at our "land" home... 4.5 acres is something we will dearly miss, but NOT cutting the grass!

Our front porch and a picture of our front porch gazebo wedding that took place last May for my oldest son... the weather was perfect!

I LOVE your porches! Right now, ours is just a plain old undecorated kind of porch that we love to sit outside on and enjoy nature. Someday, when the dog 'grows up', I hope to do a little bit more with it:).

Gigi -

How beautiful. Is the ceiling painted blue ? It kinda looks like it.
You will just have to build a porch on the front of your beach house..

Beautiful, Gigi. Did you add the fabric to the top of the gazebo? Nice touch!

Our porch ceiling is actually light sage green- the floor is gray- white siding- hunter green shutters.

The valance around the gazebo was custom made- with strong awning fabric. I wanted some kind of over hang and someone had this idea. It is just right for the porch.

My name is Denise and I am new to the forum. About four years ago, I pu rchased my first house, which happened to be my dream house! A 1920 bungalow in downtown Atlanta. I had never gardened and never thought I was a gardener prior to purchasing my bungalow, however, now I am an avid gardener and love it! My favorite place on earth is my porch. Here's a pic. This is a side pic that I took with my phone. Unfortunately, loaned my digital camera out last week and haven't gotten it back yet. Notice the gigantic camellia! I think it's about 40 years old. I know that I should prune it, but, it just hurts my heart to think about that. :(

Last month, I dug up the border of the front yard along the sidewalk (about 3.5 ft in depth) and filled it with flowers. I am going for a cottage garden look and I am loving it. Learning how to practice a little patience! It's so hard to wait for the garden to grow and fill in!

Hi Lisa,

Although I posted a pic of my porch as my profile pic, it is not showing up when I post. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Wow, Denise! I love the windows! Your house reminds me of Heather Chaddack's house which was featured in Cottage Living a few years ago. You've got a great collection of wicker chairs too. Gotta go wipe the drool off my keyboard.

Marie - I live in NC 3 hours from mountains and 2.5 hours from beach. You are more than welcome to come visit anytime you want. :)

As to being the envy of the neighborhood - well probably not. Our neighborhood is not a very friendly place..to put it mildly it is like junior high- lots of cliques, lots of busy bodies getting into everyones business, lots of drama, and lots of he said she said kinda stuff. So, we basically practice the good neighbor rule..we wave hi when we see someone. Chat about basic small talk stuf and keep it as neighbors. We have friends we bring in from elsewhere.
So, feel free to come on and visit.

I'd love to have all of you come for one of the Cameron Days we have here. We could all shop together and hang out. So, keep that in mind - the first saturday of May and the first saturday of October- I personally like the October show the best.

Your neighborhood sounds like my neighborhood. And I had such high hopes when we moved in there, should have seen the warning signs like the people who could hardly wait to tell me ALL about the others and the old owners. Junior High is pretty much it. How ironic that the new Middle School was built just a couple blocks from us. :D
