Well took little sophie junkin' today. Yes she is only 4 but I figure she needs to learn early :)
We hit the school thrift shop and I bought a cheese tray with glass dome lid and then at the county habitat restore I got two wooden candle holders. I am going to marry the tray from the cheese and one candle holder to make a pedestal of sorts. Paint them both a shabby white then put the lid on it like a cloche and put a birds nest or something under it.

Then we hit my fave haunt..Karen's attic. It is the hot pink painted store on the side of the road and she has fun stuff. I scored 3 great items and at a good price.

I love the peeling yellow painted table and the seed dispenser will of course be filled with plants to go along with my other farm related plant holders and the black candle holder will be painted white and then go on the back porch.
It was fun..

Tammy you did good girl!
I love everything you got and your new creation will look great!
Tammy..........OMGoodness I think you could be my sister or maybe my daughter ;).... we have the same taste. I would have picked up those treasures too!
My granddaughters (ages 4 & 7) love going around looking at "things" as long as there a little something for them---then everyone is happy :D

Gigi- yes it seems we have the exact same taste. Well Sophie did get something from the habitat store- a huge Hello Kitty stuffed animal. Something I wouldn't have bought had I been alone so I obviously need to work on her taste. :) Although, at Karens attic she did point out a cute tiny purple glass chandelier with prisms- for $300. Okay she has weird expensive taste - haha

I collect stands with domes (for lack of a more accurate term). They're on my kitchen counter all year long, but here's what I did with them at Christmas:

How cute Lisa. Here is what I did with one at Christmas...yes sad that it is still done like this- gotta change it I think :) And then at Easter I just threw a little bunny in one with eggs. I did remove the eggs after Easter but have done nothing else with it.

I got the tree at AC Moore a craft store. It is one of those trees you buy to do the Christmas Village. I need to see if they have fall trees as that would look good at fall - duh:)
I really want a nice nest with robins eggs in it for spring..might have to look around.
And summer -well we'll just have to see- shells, 4th of july flags, not sure.

I love the domes! What great ideas you both have. Hmmm, now you have me thinking about Christmas decorations:).
Tammy, I have seen fall trees for those villages, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one.

I love everyone's dome vignettes! We stopped at a garden sale today and she had made stone bases out of hypaturfa (bad spelling but those English garden container material stuff...) and used those huge garden domes that you cover starter plants with and used them for nature displays kind of like you're talking - some with nests, mossy rocks, etc., plus each did have a planted annual. Neat sale, her husband does pottery so they had lots of his dishes/bowls planted up with hens & chicks. I walked away with a hosta, a rusty metal art thingie of a nest and bird and a painted sign that says Fresh Fruit that they used when selling at the farmer's market back in 90's. Nice morning!
