I took myself to Country Village, a small collection of shops not far from here. There are a couple of antique shops in the village as well as some shops for new things. I found some fun things in the antique shops, including 4 Candlewick water glasses for only 8 dollars each. I've been collecting this pattern of stemware off and on for years, and it's rare to find the big water glasses, especially at such a good price. I found a fun yellow hat to hang on my bedroom wall, a cute seashell bird, and (this is probably new) a pink glass chicken dish. I got a wire picture hanger, too, that is probably new. Here are some pictures for you.

What great finds at Country Village!!! My sister collects candlewick, makes such a pretty table. She uses her goblets a lot for 'bowls', layered desserts look even more delicious!
I remember when Country Village first began...always so pretty at Christmas. We would take the boys down to watch Santa arrive on his sleigh from the 'North Pole'! They loved watching the chickens running around! Haven't been down there in several years. I know it has changed quite a bit but there always seems to be some antique stores that I love browsing.
I love the pink chicken--- I have some plates to match :) ;)

Danske,
Country Village has gone through a lot of changes through the years. I think there are only a handful of shops still there that are original. The old red barn that used to be Country Pickin's is a fabric store now, and the Weed Patch closed when the owner retired. Heartland Interiors is still there (and still doing the Street of Dreams houses). There are still enough excellent shops that I never have any trouble finding something to buy! I love going to watch the chickens and ducks run around. They're renting pea patch gardens in the yard by the old barn, so it should all look very "country" by late summer. I make a point to go there during the holidays because they always decorate so nicely and have such fun holiday items to buy.
I love using the Candlewick for layered desserts or as punch glasses. I hope I'll be able to find another four of the water goblet size one of these days. They're so much fun!!

Thanks, Gigi. I love the pink chicken too. I've seen it before in other colors, usually blue, but they didn't appeal to me that much. However, this pink one was just begging to go home with me. How could I say no? :)
I'd love to see a picture of your plates.

Thanks, Marie. I was pretty delighted with them myself, and they all worked into my decor just the way I wanted them to. I'm looking for an excuse to wear the hat (if it ever stops raining).

I want to take a couple weekends this summer and go away and just browse thru shops to see what I might find. Only there isn't anywhere I know of around here.
