Okay, because I know all of you can appreciate this . . .
This week has been beyond the usual busy because my 2010 budgets were due by yesterday to be approved by my board before they go to the county for approval. This means my life has been consumed with this and another major work project. Tuesday my day started at 7:30 and if it hadn't been for my 9 P.M. meeting being cancelled I would have worked till about 11 that night.

SO - needless to say I haven't really had time to attend to much else. This week I haven't paid any attention to my calendar because of everything going on. This morning I got up and decided to dress casually with a pair of nice slacks, a blouse and sweater thrown over my shoulders (a look that I have taken chiding about for YEARS - it's part of my Grace Kelly thing!!) and cute little flats. Now days that I have meetings or appointments usually mean a dress or a skirt but since today wasn't one of those days, I dressed "down".

After taking a call or two this morning but before my 9 meeting I checked my calendar and realized I had a charity luncheon at 11:30!!! I could NOT go dressed the way I was. So I left my office at 10:45 and went to the major department store downtown (10 minutes from the lunch). I found a simple navy dress on sale for around $35 but I had a sweater I bought from this store back in March that I had to return so the dress ran about $5 ( had originally been $100). Well of course I didn't have the right "suck-in-the-gut" underwear so I had to buy those too. And I couldn't wear my little brown flats with the navy dress, so on to the show department. Then because the dress has a deep "v" neckline I had to have a necklace!!! Oh, and a new lip liner (which I use as lipstick since the damn stuff doesn't stay put).

Dress - $5, shoes - $40, "body shaper" - $17, necklace - $17, lip liner - $14. I did not buy a bag, just used my computer bag which is pretty stylish!! Not bad for less than $100!!!

Of course, the sleeves had these funny buttons which I made the clerk cut off (while I was wearing the dress - came out of the changing room with it on and said "I'll take this"). And the two clerks watched as I ran to buy the body shaper and then back to the changing room to put it on!! The only thing I didn't buy was a new bra - not enough time!! :p

That's how my day went, how about all of you?:D

Whew...sounds like a credit card commercial (charging the items, spinning around, and rushing out of the store) OR a skit from a sitcom, cheapdiva! Glad you got it all pulled together in time. :)

This is a perfect example of what happens to us when we're overwhelmed. Personally, I yearn for the simple times of years ago...but I'm afraid they're NOT returning!

I just did kinda the same thing...

My family and I checked into a hotel downtown (got a gift certificate to this great boutique hotel for working on the auction). We decided to stay downtown the night my husband had a gig down there. I only had 15 minutes to change before we had to head out. I noticed that my jacket had a horrible stain on it and it couldn't be worn. I ran to Macy's next door, took the escalator up five flights (isn't funny how the down escalator is always right in front of you when you want to go UP!?), found a dress and different shoes and came back to the hotel to change in under 10 minutes. Talk about a great work out!~
