Hey all just a reminder that today is the 15th of May so that leaves us 15 days to have all the pics of our homes done. So, we can post all our pics in our album of virtual home tours..
So, get to it girls..I can't wait to see everyone's home.

this is going to be fun.. hee hee :)

But none of my rooms are DONE. There's so much to do in every room I would have to write big explanations about what it is supposed to look like.

Even the thread about post your projects got me into a tizzy. I have sooo much I have to do and all by myself - hubby can't get work anywhere around here so he's away - so in other words, every spare moment without my son I have to work on the house. I have to paint the exterior of the house for cryin' out loud! I have to move every piece of furniture out of the living and dining room to re-do the wood floors. I have to sand down the kitchen floor and repaint and feed myself and boy avoiding wet paint. I have to move a well used sand box off the patio so I can regrout and not walk on it.

Oh I need another coffee.....

I hear ya, Heather! I definitely won't be ready so I won't be able to participate. No way will my kitchen be even close to ready and all of my kitchen stuff is literally thrown into all of my other rooms. Can't even begin to work in those rooms because I have nothing to do with the kitchen stuff. :(

I look forward to seeing everyone else's though--and I will post pictures IF, and when, my house is ever put back together.

I definitely won't be done by then, but I'm not afraid to show you my mess!!:D

Sorry...count me out too, because I'm in a state of upheaval. At some future point in time...;)

I have to have my house in order for graduation. My goal is to get all visible rooms organized and decluttered by then. I have things I want to do to my rooms but will not be done by graduation. So, does a good cleaning and organinizing count? It will be the best I can do for now. I wish I had time to do all the things I want to, but working 10 1/2 hours a day just doesn't let me get things done as I should.

Wow I didn't mean to upset or put so much pressure on everyone. Sorry.
I guess how about when you finish a room you take pics of it and put them in an album and let us know and we can look.
I am not done with my stuff either..but I figure take some pics now and then when I get done I can take more so you all will have before and after shots.

If you can't do it then don't stress - just don't do it.
I know everyone works hard..I do too...so sorry about the pressure - by working so much you certainly don't need that from me.

I'm still game, upheaval and all! How will you all know how wonderful my new kitchen is until you see my current state?

C'mon - no one is going to judge you! Promise;)

If it makes anyone feel better, I'll show you my "situation room". This is supposed to be our guest room but it's really where we keep all of our crap!

I like the "when you finish a room, take a pic". That's what I'll have to do! I only have a few pictures in my album now, so maybe I'll get a few more in it next month:).

You didn't upset me or put pressure on me, I did it to myself. I had a good talk with DH about the projects and how he won't be available to help me and we're getting someone to give me a hand with the tough stuff! So you actually helped me in dealing with it all and I feel much better now!

Anyhoo, I will take some pics of the better areas and get y'all to help me with the areas I need advice on, K?

Don't worry Tammy, you didn't upset me.....and I do need pressure, because I keep putting things off and getting a little motivation from you all is just what I need. ;):)

Hey, yours looks better than mine. Between mail, graduation stuff, and just "stuff", mine is a disaster.

Okay, here's my latest news...

I'm selling my house and buying another one, not very far from here. Soooo, I promise that before I start clearing everything out of here, I'll take room by room pictures, and then will take some before/after ones of the "new to me" house (which is another older home, which needs LOTS of TLC).

I am hoping that all of you will help me when I hit snags and need to make decisions and want opinions...please.

The move is set for the end of September (and keep in mind my daughter's wedding is in the beginning of August!) I am going to be going nutty...
I've got 31 years of accumulation here, plus a ton of stuff from when I cleaned out my family home in 2005...

I'm scared/sad/nervous/excited/happy to have a clean slate on which to decorate. Gulp...:o

Gigi - You and I can relate! Good luck with your sale.

Guess you'll be keeping busy this summer, ChapterTwo! I started decluttering by moving things from one room to another, then one box to another, then finally on out the door to be donated. Congrats on finding your new home!

I think I need to bow out of the virtual house tour. We need to focus on the painting and flooring of the other house. I'll post pictures as soon as we're done!

Thanks, Lisa and Zu...that's a good idea on how to get through all the "stuff", Zu.

It's actually my late aunt's/uncle's house, so I have a history there. And the funny part is the house I live in now was formerly my maternal grandparents' house! I believe in keeping it "all in the family"! :D

Congrats chapter two-

I remember you talking about hoping to get that house if everything worked out. It must be nice to have all that family history available to you. We were military kids so no real history - just base house after base house. It is a good and sad life also.

Guess that is why I only love old houses- they give me a sense of permanence that I never had growing up. My older kids want us to move and sometimes I do- but only if I can get a nice old farmhouse with a big barn on 5 or more acres..so pretty much we are here. I kinda like the idea that my kids might be able to graduate some day with the same kids they went to kindergarten with..something I was always jealous of growing up..

But hey can't wait to hear about all the projects you are going to do with the new place..Did you sell your current place yet?

Now everyone, seems we all bit off a bit more than we could chew on the virtual house tours...so maybe since summer is coming and it is the time to vacation and do house junk maybe we should shoot for our home tours to be done by labor day...heee show our labor on the houses on labor day..
does that sound better...and if you can only show one room then wooo hooo
show one room. This is supposed to be fun not a burden.. :)
What do you think?

Here is my kitchen, painted and all cleaned up. It is very small. I am a daycare provider, so it is very hard to keep it looking like this. Not much counter space or storage.
I am still looking for a couple pictures to hang, something to hang on the soffit, and new throw rugs. We are limited to WalMart here for shopping, and I want to find something elsewhere.
The white ended up being a "casual white". I like it much better than the first stark white I choose. I still want to put up beadboard wallpaper in the future. At least it is presentable for grauation now.

Boy, Tammy ~ it sounds like we live the same life. My dad was a Marine, so we moved throughout my childhood. There's a lot to be said for that lifestyle, but it was hard leaving friends and places. I have a penchant for older homes too. I think it's because they exemplify the "family home". My kids have gone to the same schools since kindergarten. I'm constantly aware of how their maturity and education levels far exceed mine at their age.

I promise to take a picture of my house(s), trailer and yard one room at a time. I can't imagine a time when they'll all look good at once!

Marie ~ we must have posted at the same time. The white and blue with the oak looks so fresh and pretty! Really nice job!

Marie~

That little dresser in the kitchen is so cute! I tell ya, they are so versatile--I have one in the living room for the TV since I couldn't find a tv stand that I liked. I love the blue too. I wanted to paint our living room and kitchen a light/pale blue, but DH just couldn't picture it. *sigh*

Tammy~

I know what you mean, my dad was Air Force and we lived all over the place so no hometown, besides almost all the bases we lived at have either closed or been destroyed by natural disasters. My first job after grad school was at an AFB so I never really got away from it and that's where I met my husband!

This the longest I have ever lived anywhere (6 years) and every now and then I get that "itch" to want to move to another city. But for now- we stay!
