Several of you have mentioned shopping at Ikea, and yesterday Tammy (YHouse) posted about a sale at Wisteria. I hadn't visited Wisteria for quite awhile and it got me to thinking... do you have a favorite online shop for home furnishings/decor? It might be fun to post the links and visit the sites.

I like the artsy Old World mix at Mothology (http://www.mothology.com/index.htm).

What sites do you like?

Ooohhh pretty!

I like this site for ideas: http://www.hostessblog.com. Not really a shop, but it has links to shopping sites.

Those two are nice, Zu and Lisa! :)

I'm all into economizing these days, and this site (they also have a paper catalog) offers good quality at low prices...http://www.lakeside.com/home.asp?

That site isn't an elegant or trendy one, but they do have some cute, fun items.

Thanks, Lisa and C2. I'll bookmark them, and look forward to exploring more!

Anyone else have some favs? Come on... some of us live far, far away from great shops, so we need all the help we can get. :p Thank goodness for online shopping and UPS doorstop delivery! :)

Oooooo, I like OneHundredWishes!

Edited: I just visited the lakeside site, and they really do have some great prices! My thinking is that if we share our favs, we can watch for some good sales too, like the one Tammy posted for the bird's nests.

Those all look like great sites. I tend to do most of my online shopping on Ebay. I like to look other places, then go to Ebay to see if I can get a better deal:).

ZuZu:

Here is a link to a site that I found that is a link to getting the catalogs you want and stopping the ones that you don't. Not sure if it actually works to stop catalogs that you don't want......but it has many that you might want :D!!

Acacia is one I really like.

Thanks, Evelyn! If I am remembering this correctly, I think Danske visited Bellocchio. Nice site, but I'm sure seeing the store in person is even better. ;) I used to live in the Bay Area and take music lessons in S.F. Wonderful place to go exploring!

While posting here, I'm also visiting the Catalog Choice websites (I prefer the web over catalogs). It is great! Bookmarked Gaiam (http://www.gaiam.com/) and will continue checking the rest out. :) Oh - and many of these places have great sales!

Would love to keep this thread going. Anyone else have some sites they enjoy?

Sorry, I just check out our local online used sites... since we've been in this house I think 90% of it was somebody elses! Hey, with a toddler and a DIY hubby (dunno which guy is harder on the stuff) why not!

I like checking out 'your' sites, rarely do they ship 'up here' though... oh well.

I've never purchased anything from Ebay, :o:confused: , but have sold items on Craig's List - which worked out great.

As I continue on my quest, I run into more blogs like housemartin (http://housemartin.typepad.com/housemartin/2007/10/its-all-in-the-.html), and from there find more shops like palazzo (http://www.palazzo-ub.com/), and from there...

It's really not a bad way to spend a rainy spring day.

I used to shop Ballard Design, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, JCPenney, Macy's... but then I discovered small, online shops while trading links w/ others and I'm hooked.

I hope to rebuild my website later this summer or fall. My links page has several sites that are no longer in business, but there are some great sites to visit if you're interested - mostly cottage decor, handmade, and artisan sites.

Tammy - I'd never heard of Grandin Road before.

Anybody else know of some fun sites to visit?

Thanks Zuzu for the link - this should keep me busy for awhile!
I also liked your website, those botanicals are just beautiful and the needleworks look so pretty!

I love Lakeside! I've gotten some great bargains and gifts from there over the past few years. I like getting their catalogs in the mail and picking out everything I want but won't buy - lol. You do have to watch, some stuff is made cheap, but you can't expect more than that at the price you'll pay!

Collections, Etc. is another bargain place. You can find good stuff in their clearance section all the time. Cute home decor stuff. www.collectionsetc.com

I also love the stuff at Tender Heart. www.tenderheart.com and The Country House www.thecountryhouse.com - although I rarely buy from there, but good inspiration!!

I love country primitives blended with a little bit of coastal. My bedroom is coastal, rest of house is primitive.

I have found Factory Direct Craft Supply (http://www.factorydirectcraft.com) to have a lot of inexpensive stuff and believe me I have to watch my budget:D

I have never visited mothology ... I found a table I absolutely LOVE ... drat. Anyway, many of you know I love the Anthropologie home section. Every day quirky items like candlesticks and kitchentimers are reasonable. However, a lot of the larger items are incredibly spendy. More than anything, I love the artistic way they put things together. I get inspired by the photography in their catalogue as well (probably half of why their stuff is so expensive). Anyway, what do you all know about mothology? How long have they been open? How long do they keep their items around (i.e. long-term or seasonally) - - did I mention I really like the spindle-legged table.

Bye everyone!

Hi RubySlippers!

Anthropology is another one of my favs.

Mothology has been featured in many different publications:

Mothology Press Page (http://www.mothology.com/press.htm)

I would not hesitate to purchase from them - I love their European-style baskets (http://www.mothology.com/gardenbaskets.htm) and blue milk glass (http://www.mothology.com/bmilkglcol.htm)!
