I went into this little consignment shop that opened a few blocks away. They had the neatest pr of lamps, more like for a dresser, or dining room, not full sized and only took a 60 watt bulb, so not really a reading lamp for the family room. Anyways, I loved them, and I kept looking at them and going back to them, and I really wanted them.......but not for $30 for the pair. They were in good shape, but not really the kind of lamps I was looking for for the family room....but boy I wanted them. I walked out without them. I think the ladies prices are high, as she had other lamps in there, like table lamps for $15 and $20, and they were dated, and I have been looking online and I can buy new for $29 to $49 depending on what I want.

I sure liked those lamps though......tomorrow....I will keep thinking about them. Too bad I am broke right now.

Ahh yes, been there.... but sometimes the cheaper ones just need a little paint or a little faux finish to cheer them up!

It is always disappointing when you go in consignment or thrift shops and the prices are high. It makes you think why bother??

Did you ask her is she'd take less for them?

I didn't ask....I hate doing that. But, If they are still in there next time, maybe I will ask if they would take $10 each....down from $14. Why am I such chicken to ask things like that?

ASK!!! What's the worst that can happen if you nicely say "I really love these lamps but can't afford $30, will you take less or do you have a lay-away plan?"

But don't ask for a price reduction and then ask to put them on lay-away. And have they been there for awhile?

Marie- Yes ask if she can do better---maybe the answer will be what you want to hear...

Good luck

Not sure how long they have been there. I haven't stopped in for 3 weeks. I will check back in a week or so. They are only open 1 day till 7 p.m. when I can get there during the week. And only 4 hours on Saturday. Those crazy hours.
