Since we all define the word "cottage" a little differently, I thought it would be fun if we added a signature that quickly describes what we like best.

Just go to User CP, Settings and Options, Edit Signature and type in

5 Word Decor Style:

followed by the five words that express your style best!

Whatcha think?

I like this idea... now I've got to think...

Think?!?

Just look around your home, jot down 5 words that describe it, and add it to your signature. Another fun thing to do is copy/paste your 5 words into Google and check out the websites and images. No pressure - you can change these words if you come up with better ones. ;)

This idea came to me this morning when I read Heather's post asking for fireplace mantel decorating pics. I wasn't sure what she liked, so... if everyone posts their 5 little words in their signature, perhaps we can better help each other find pics etc.

Tnx, I like your signature too, RoseMary! All those words you chose conjure up lots o' cottage style.

By the way, I didn't forget about posting the pics of that lovely, old, broken tea pot...this weekend is my daughter's shower and I'm running around like a nut!

As for "quirky"...next week I will also post the picture of an item I bought last weekend at a town wide yard sale that fits the bill. It's a tiny stool that is REALLY "on legs"!

Ok, what's the word for a home that everybody is welcome to drop by at any time? It's decorated so anybody would feel welcome - you don't have to take your shoes off if you don't want to. There's always beer and wine and snacks.
Most of the furniture is second hand and painted and if it get's dinged or scuffed - oh well. There are pictures of our family and friends everywhere - all taken by me. There's always something going on, projects under way everywhere. There is much discussion and research of the age and type of house this is. A house that is always under construction and lot's of stories already about the renovations even though we've only been here 3 and a half years.

Is that a decorating style?

Well, Heather, that would be a cottage. Cozy. Relaxed. Welcoming. Inviting. Fun. :)

But how do you get all that into a more definitive description of your cottage? What do you collect? Is there a specific time or era that your home reflects? What colors do you like? White, pastels, bright color? Is your home urban-cottage or a little more country? Do you prefer painted furniture, or natural wood? Is your yard and/or entertaining a big part of your cottage home life? And so on.

OK. Well, I just saw this pic from the website Annielinz posted about a week or so ago (lovin' it), and I think this might be something you'd like, but I'm not completely sure...

I could use more words in mine, too. I like too many different things~guess I should change one of mine for eclectic, or folk art, or flea-market, or junk. . .I could keep going:p

RoseMary - love that word JUNKTIQUE!;)

Zuzu's Garden
06-11-2009, 09:22 AM
Updated Rules: Connecting two words with a hyphen, and made-up words are allowed. ;)

Love "junktiques", RoseMary, and I know exactly what you mean!

I'm glad y'all approve of 'junktique'~there used to be a store that was called by that name somewhere in Branson.

The first time I saw the word I knew exactly what sort of store it would be~and that I would love shopping there:). I like the idea of being able to use hyphenated and made-up~sometimes they are the best words!

this was tough...I may reserve the right to add or change words later. these aren't in any particular order.

Thanks Memmey, friends say its either that or the dog from the movie Up the loses attention to a squirrel and then finishs his sentences. Somedays I feel so scattered brain. Hope the signature shows up.
