We are taking the little one to Disney World for her kindergarten graduation gift. She has wanted to go since she was old enough to know what Disney World is and she talks about it endlessly! Because we wanted this to be a huge surprise for her, she knows nothing except that we are going on vacation and will be staying in a hotel. She hasn't asked where.

So...we have been trying to think of a creative way to let her know where we are going. We are also trying to figure out when to tell her. I had thought about putting Disney information in a big envelope--wrapped as a gift--and giving it to her when we get in the car to leave home or when we arrive at the hotel. BPG suggested waiting until we get to the park and watching her face as she realizes where we are. I, too, think that would be fun, but I'm also wondering if the anticipation isn't a large part of the magic. After all, she won't have the opportunity to tell everyone we see at every stop between here and there that she is going to Disney World. What do y'all think? How would you reveal the surprise to a little one?

Oh what a nice surprise!

We were just talking about this last night actually. We thought it was funner (is that a word??) for the surprizees than the surprized. The anticipation and build up is funner for the recipient. You know? Like Christmas - the build up is bigger than the actual day. Just my 2 cents...

How about a charm bracelet that has something that relates to where she is going without giving the Disney part away? Like a shell, for the beach. Then you can add a Disney charm to it when you go to Disney. As she grows up you keep adding charms for special occasions.

I have a couple of my grandmother's charm bracelets and WISH I had kept mine from my childhood. In fact, I just may start doing this for my granddaughters since we vacation together yearly!!

My DD's boyfriend last year for her b-day took her to Disneyland and gave her two very large Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals holding the plane ticket.

I love the charm idea, especially since you can add on to it for all the little milestones in her life.

I love the charm bracelet idea, too! She loves jewelry, so that would be perfect for her!

I also love the idea of Mickey and Minnie and the ticket. She has a Minnie Mouse that someone got for her as a souvenir and BPG is picking up the park tickets at the base today, so we could do it that way. If I scramble, maybe I could get the charm bracelet and put it on Minnie as a necklace!

This is so much fun! Thanks for the ideas! :D
