Which TV shows do you watch regularly for your interior-design inspirations? What keeps you coming back to watch them?
I always enjoyed watching my favorite designer Kenneth Brown's shows. He used to host "reDesign" on HGTV, and then more recently "Over Designed" on TLC. I always enjoyed "reDesign" because of the way he would walk the viewer through his design process step-by-step, and I liked the way he interacted with the homeowners.
And, of course, I was always amazed at the results. Bring back Kenneth! :)

My favorite shows are "Designed to Sell" and "Decorating Cents" both on HGTV. Designed to Sell has a few designers in different cities and they have a $2,000 budget to "fix up" a seller's home for a quick sale. Lisa LaPorta is my fav designer on that show. Decorating Cents has a $500 budget so they have to be VERY creative.

This is an old television show from the early 1990's based in Alaska (but filmed in Roslyn, Washington). Anyway, everyone lives in a quirky cottage or cabin. I now own ALL of the DVD's and I kid you not - - the decorator on this show is a genius. One house will have a purple kitchen ... another house will have an antique stove ... there will be mission-style stained glass in the doorway in one house ... there will be beautiful plush couches in another. These homes certainly do not look like "decorator" homes; however, they also do not look like "made for television" homes either. Very few of us spend our daily lives in a magazine sperad; with that said, this show had some panache.

I like Divine Design. Candace Olson is brilliant. I love her use of lighting. (No pun intended!)
I like Design to Sell too. I wish they would calculate the cost of labor into the equation for those of us who don't have a show produced in their home.

I like 'Rate My Space', 'Designed to Sell', 'Clean House', 'My House is Worth What?', and 'House Hunters'. 'What Not to Wear' can also entrance me for days at a time, but that's not house related!

Isn't it "What Was My House Worth"? They're gonna have to take that one off the air!
I love "What not to Wear" too.

I like the premise of house hunters; however, I always end up feeling like I am not "connected" to the buyer so-to-speak. Many times they have a lot of specifics, then they flash-forward to three months later and it is as if multiple contracting crews have "swooped-in" - - while I enjoy watching the process other people go through, I must not be the target audience. Does that make any sense?

I don't watch any of them anymore, but I used to love "Country Style" and also Rachel Ashwell's show.

Country Style was such a good show. I wish they'd bring it back or have a show that does more "primitive' or early American styles as well. I like Design to Sell too. Lisa is great and her designs and redos always look perfect. Curb Appeal is another favorite. I used to watch Buy Me but it became a little too stressful watching these people buy things they couldn't afford
I'm also looking forawrd to the "Dream Home 2009" special.

I'm more into shows like Flip That House, Flip this House and all those flipping houses on A&E, come to think of it I really liked the two designing shows on A&E where they go to garage sales and flea markets to decorate a room in a clients house. Haven't seen that one on there for quite awhile. that has to be my problem I miss Tanya Memme and that guy co-host. :(
And there was a show on TLC (I think it was TLC) with this really flamboyant guy on it that was just great. Oh course that has disappeared too. I must be the death of shows!!!
Curb Appeal is my fave on HGTV. Used to love Trading Spaces but now I just find it idiotic. Page or not. If Frank is on I may watch it but now they are getting into areas of counceling homeowners for relationships and truthfully. I don't care if she isnt' your best friend anymore for whatever reason, I just want ot see you paint each others bedrooms!!!

I like to watch a few different ones.
Property Virgins
Trading Spaces(not sure if that's still on)
Great Taste No Money
Designer on a Dime
Small Space Big Style
Junk Brothers
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
There are a few more, but I can't remember the names of them. I know I'm in need of counseling. :p

I haven't had a TV for a bit, but I used to love Color Splash, and Get Color. Get Color was by far my favorite, but they cancelled it ages ago and it's just been in reruns forever. :)
But pretty much I had most of HGTV set to be recorded on the TiVo! :p

I liked the original one with Richard and his gang from Trademark, but I'm not crazy about the rest of them. Some of them are just way too over the top for me.

I loved Kitty Bartholomew, Country Style and Curb Appeal with Rick Spence. Not much on HGTV anymore that grabs me and is a "have to watch". I don't think they are on anymore but I loved Steven Sabatos and Chris Hyndman on Designer Guys and later Design Rivals. I believe they were on the Discovery Channel. Not only did they have some great designs I liked their chemistry on the show.
I watched a good one last nite~ Design with Style (?)~ the decorator took three things that were meaningful from the person to design a home. It was very interesting... :)
I LOVE most home improvement~ decorating shows~ home sales, etc...

Antiques Roadshow!
OK, besides that I like HouseHunters and HouseHunters International. And there used to be a show where some the hosts would swoop in and force the homeowner to declutter and throw stuff out.
I like This Old House but they're now too trendy, and they never say what anything costs.
I'm hoping to see a resurgence of more practical shows, like more vegetable gardening, or xeriscaping, or country living in general.

It's a coincidence that this thread was started up again - I was just mourning the loss of all the wonderful shows on HGTV when it first started...Carol Duvall, Room by Room, Collector Inspector (Harry Rinker/antiques), If Walls Could Talk, Cash in the Attic, etc., etc. Now the shows seem so much the same. I hope the tides will turn and there will be a little more variety.

Design to Sell will always be my favorite - even though they don't add in the contractor fees, they still have great ideas that many of us can do.

Collector Inspector!!! I loved that show! And you are telling me that If Walls Could talk was cancelled too? I just thought I wasn't catching them. I've actualy just quit watching HGTV as of late because I'm just not a fan of these decorate to sell shows. I want to know what to do with my house now not when I'm on my way out! Though the Tanya Memme show is still a fave, has to be the feisty quips that fly all over the place during the staging and decorating. ;)
Christopher Lowell was my other fave and then he moved to another network and to a time that I can't catch him on. I really enjoyed his show.:)
