View Full Version : Our new Carriage House...
This will be our new home- come near the end of August. We are going from a 4.5 acre/ 5 plus bedroom home to a wonderful village where the homes have picket fences, porches and small lots. And we can walk everywhere from the local stores, library, pool, parks, trails, etc...
AND did I mention my daughter and family are around the corner :D. We plan to start making memories and tradition by having a mid-week dinner, on Wednesdays, where all family members are welcome to catch up on the week, have a planned dinner ready for them, etc...
The pictures are of the front of the home, and the view from our porch...I'm off to find the pictures... Found them!767

Your new home is absolutely gorgeous!!!! You are going to make some wonderful memories there. I love the idea of a mid-week meal and get-together. I work opposite shifts from my hubs and my daughter is always busy, so I eat with my doggies most of the time. I do talk to them, and I ask them about their day, what they ate in the yard that they are not supposed to, what they dug up out of the garden, etc etc. It's not really the same, but it is interesting;) I am looking forward to pics of the inside. You must be so excited:)
Thank you Vintage girl! You are cracking me up about having dinner with the dogs-LOVE the questions!!!! I have three dogs- and I find myself talking to them too---but mine NEVER admit anything  :D

Gigi- wowza..that is an awesome house. Hey downsizing is cleansing for the soul. As much as I love my house I do look forward to the future of having a smaller, more manageable one.
I love that it is basically a pocket community - that you can walk to everything. What town is it located in?
And girl I expect high things on the decorating of that front porch for autumn. :)
More pictures...is it a new house or a resell?
How exciting...

Beautiful home, Gigi! I look forward to 'seeing' more of it and hearing more about your little village. I love the idea of being able to walk everywhere~especially to the library:). And this time of year, a small yard sounds like heaven:).

I love the house, I love the picket fence, love how you can walk everywhere, but I love the most that you'll be close to family and can enjoy weekly dinners!! That is just too cool, and the memories will be so worth it.
Congratulations again!
Thanks again everyone...
Tammy it's in a little town in Frederick, MD---it's not new- but just about- looks like a model home inside- paint, all wood floors (even in basement)- at least it smells new.
And the holidays-- oh I can't wait to doll up the front, etc... I'll post pics inside when I get some.
Thanks for the support my friends- it's not easy to move from a home of twenty some years where the kiddies were raised.... :(

I know it isn't easy, but you will still have all of the wonderful memories, my friend. And just think of the wonderful memories you will make with your children--and your grandchildren--in your beautiful new home. :)

Oh Gigi what a beautiful home!
Is that a park across the street?
How exciting for you, congratulations!
The view is a historial area- stone farm house, pond, etc...
Yes Lynzee- I am going to try to make memories right away- thank you for your kind words-appreciated.

Uhm . . . is there a guest room:D? Before we moved, we did Sunday night dinners (and a movie in the summer months). I sooo miss being a mile away from my daughter and her family. Eventually I will probably move back but it's hard being even a couple of hours away. You miss doing the "every day" things; kids concerts and plays, hanging out on the deck in summer, just doing a last minute potluck. And of course, my daughter misses having someone around in an emergency to pick the kids up from school or run over for an hour to watch them so she can go to the store without them. (Now that they are both school age it's better - but you all get the idea.)
So, enjoy being closer to your family. I'm very happy for you!!

Gigi - shoot I hit Frederick when I go up to my WV auctions as my fave store is GreatStuff by Paul right in Frederick..Next time I will be sure and let you know ahead of time and we can hang out a bit...how cool..
I love Frederick - it has such an awesome historical downtown..to die for.
Tammy- that would be great! Whenever you pass thru and have time- we can get together! How cool would that be! :)
Cheapdiva- I always knew I wanted to be closer to the grandkiddies- so we are making the move. AND YES there are two guest bedrooms. The bottom floor is a dining room, living room, open kitchen with family room, three upstair bedroom, and a finished basement. The two car garage is detachted- little yard (yeah!)....We almost just moved down to our beach house- but I think we weren't ready for the "several hour" distance- maybe in the future. And with the economy the way it was- I hated to let my job go- so for now....

How exciting, a new home. Congratulations!
It looks wonderful.
With all that extra room, maybe we should plan a road trip so we can meet each other there. Ha!
Seems smart to move close to family, ready to make memories. That's what it is all about. We sure don't have forever, though it is easy to forget sometimes.
Best wishes for your new adventure,
Hillary
Hillary- I LOVE what you said, "We sure don't have forever, though it is easy to forget sometimes."
Awww...That would be wonderful to meet ~ seriously the door will always be open to family, friends, and new friends too! Plenty of room.

Gigi - you amaze me. Sold your home, bought another one, and you're getting the lake house ready for a wedding! When does your book come out?

Just joking! But wouldn't it be great if Gigi could write a book about all this to offer some helpful tips in time management?

Oh ok I was going to offer to "help out" - ya know, put in the ole' 2 cents worth of nonsense.
Hint: Take stock in color care :p ;)--- seriously
I think what makes me move forward everyday is I keep saying in my mind, "This is the right thing...this is the right thing..."

I am going to try that with my kitchen, Gigi. I keep second--and third and fourth--guessing myself so I have literally been at a standstill for weeks now. It seems to be working quite well for you, so I am going to try it!!! :D
Dear Lynzee---Really try it- look at the best- like Hillary said, "We keep forgetting we don't live forever-And sometimes we forget that."

I'm looking forward to buying some new furniture, seeing my granddaughters everyday, and meeting new people---Good grief I haven't had close neighbors in almost 20 years---- I'm hoping one- or two are wonderful people like my friends here.;)

I think being able to see grandchildren every day makes it all worthwhile. Knowing that I can see all but one of my grandchildren every day is the only thing that keeps me from throwing in the towel here and moving to Alaska.:D
