floors

Here is a photo of what I think I would like our floors to look like...not too dark but with a nice light to medium brown. What do y'all think? How do you know what stains to try? Is it just trial and error or is there some way to narrow your choices?

That's pretty much the color of wood that runs through our house- very very happy with it- we've had a lot of traffic in 20 years (kids, doggies, etc...) and the color still works well- very very little wear.

I want to say pine, but they appear to be very hard wood.

Gigi, maybe your floors are yellow pine? It is very hard--as hard as some true hardwoods.

I love the color - it is soft looking and will blend in with any kind of style.
And I too, will go soak in that tub! Can't remember the last time I soaked in any tub!

Cohen, at Home Depot in the stain isle, Minwax has a color chart. They have actual pieces of wood that have been stained so you can see how it will look. I am not sure if Lowes has this chart (samples) or not? I hope that helps you??
