View Full Version : The start of a long list of things to do!
Sadie's Porch

I moved into my little cottage a little over a year ago. Since then I have worked some on the outside and a lot on the inside. I know how much you all like pictures (me too!) so I have attached a few so you can see what I am starting out with. The first picture is just after I cleaned out all the dead and overgrown bushes around the front of the house. You couldn't even see the porch and some of them had grown into the siding. I was able to get my Dogwood and a few other things planted. I also spent alot of time doing repairs on the old wood windows and that was about all for the outside last year.
The next two pictures are from this year. I had several plants that I had saved in pots over the winter and was able to make some small beds and get them in the ground. I have gone from a very shady yard to one with lots of sun so I was not able to bring all my plants with me. This works for now as I don't want to plant too much around the house until after I get more of the outside work done, as in, new roof, paint and porch columns. Most of that won't start until next year (or the next):D as I am still working hard on the inside. I will bring you all up to date on all that stuff next time!
Just charming! You have made this such a beautiful home!

Great job! What's that growing up the columns? Looks like maybe an ivy?

It's the journey they say that is the fun. And it must be true as we had finished all the projects on the house next door but couldn't find a contractor willing to work in the historic district to build an addition. So, we were bored and then moved to the house next door and started all over. So, either that is true or we are crazy. :)
Tammy~ My husband and I have moved several times because there wasn't anything else to do~ this last home we have been in for over 20 years... :D
Now that's a move I'd like to have~ right next door!

Actually Gigi had we done the move all our selves it would have been very easy..but we were alotted a military move since Kirk had just come back from a year in Korea. We wanted them to move all the heavy stuff and we'd move the drawers from one to the other etc...
Wierd thing is that they had to load it all up on a truck - take it about 15 miles away to weigh it then come back to next door and unload it..strange.
They did break the rules on the garage tools though. They were so heavy and so many and they said to hell with carrying them all the way to the street to the truck then back up to the garage that was right there..so they just moved them from one to another.
