C&B's October/November issue is hitting newsstands this week.
Some folks have reported that the cover is crumpled looking, as if something happened when it was printed.
Yikes!

If you happen to discover this in your local shops, could you please e-mail me and let me know where (store name) and city and state? We are trying to find out if this is a big problem or just a little glitch.

I so appreciate your help!
Hillary

Here is the cover as it is supposed to look:

I got mine in the mail and it looked fine. I will check the stores when I'm out and about though.

I think I'm going to go to Wal-mart RIGHT NOW.

but I'm hoping that the next issue has an entire cottage on the cover. I so love the curb-appeal beauty shots...

I went shopping yesterday, and the October/November issue covers look great - not crumpled!

I still haven't seen it, but I did get a Country Living that was crumpled, so maybe some people got confused?

I saw something similar just outside Columbus, OH. In my Wal*mart, C&B is stacked on top of Country Living, so I nearly bought Country Living instead. The CL had one big fold on the cover, but no printing issues. The issues of C&B were fine.

I just started reading the new C&B and I really like it. I like the green direction the magazine is going. Energy efficient without looking too silly. I echo the Letter which asks for articles on 500-1600 ft cottages, especially for infill housing. McMansion teardowns are an insult.

My issue of C&B arrived in the mail undamaged. I'm really enjoying this issue (and not just because one of my letters was published in it, lol). Heather, did you see your door? You're famous now!!

I really enjoyed the Sentimental Serenade article, probably because of all the yellow in the house. I loved the fabric with which she covered the couch! I know I could never be as disciplined about editing my collections to fit in a cottage the way that owner did, so mine would look a lot a more cluttered. I also really enjoyed the article on Hoosier cabinets and the one on tile repair. I haven't got any tiles in my house (except on the floors, and I want to get rid of those) but it's always fun to read how-to articles. The one on selecting exterior colors when houses have stonework was interesting, too. The last house I lived in had brickwork that was pink and sand colored, and I wasn't wild about the color choices the owner made. I wish I'd had this article to give him then!

All in all, this was an excellent issue. I even enjoyed the bungalow articles even though I'm not a huge bungalow fan. There was a little something for everybody!

Oxide, My son just moved to Columbus. He is going to CSCC and living in an apt with some kids going to OSU. I live in Bryan, OH, nw corner, about 3 hours away. I may need your help if we need to find a mechanic while he is there. Know of any good ones. (Sorry, off topic here, just want to make sure she sees this) :) Thanks. Marie

I'm sorry, I can't help you with a mechanic. I walked and biked for 20 years and only bought a car recently. The car is new and I still take it to the dealership. I'm also totally car illiterate. My idea of car repair is calling AAA and forking over money.

Thanks anyways.

I was looking for the C & B at our local Super Walmart, and it wasn't there, along with some other similar type magazines.......I wonder if they are pulling them out of their stores. Wouldn't surprise me, they are taking so many other things out of their stores......I love how they come in, run other businesses out, then lessen their inventory and raise their prices.....Ahh the WalMart way. grr.

Hi Mac78,

Don't worry! Walmart newsstand is safe.
After I saw your post, I found out that they are in the process of rearranging some of the departments (so you may have been there when it was in flux.) I guess they are moving their newsstand and so magazines may be in with electronics, entertainment, music etc. Keep us posted.

Thanks to all for the helpful info.

Hillary

Hello Mac,

I went to Wal-Mart this morning for something, and checked the magazine rack. There were about 10 copies of C&B when I got mine last week. This morning there was ONE copy left, hidden behind some other stuff. So maybe it was sold out!
