I'm sorry about all the spam that has just been posted. I've been trying to clear it out, but the dumb program keeps rejecting my password and telling me to come back in fifteen minutes. I'll keep trying and hope to get this load of junk deleted very soon. With any luck, they'll solve this vBulletin problem soon.

Marie and I both tried to clear out the spam this morning, but there are more than 50 posts, so it has to be done by an administration panel. I tried deleting threads, but the program wouldn't take my password again, and I have to get ready for work. I'll try again before I leave and see if I can get it to work. Sorry for leaving you all a mess.

I'll check back throughout the day.

I reported the posts. I was finally able to go in and delete the threads (which I assume means they're deleted from everyone's screen and not just mine) but I don't think that permanently clears out the posts or bans the spammer.

Thank you both for keeping an eye on this place. Maybe the program will start recognizing you! Just knowing you two are trying to keep it out helps!

Thanks for helping with the spam! I think the board right now has a lot of glitches going on. Just about every other time I log on, it does not recognize my password, and after a while, I just get tired of trying:( Hopefully they will get this all worked out:)

Heather and Clev, I volunteered to help out with the spam, but never heard back. If you still need another person, just let me know:)

Thanks. It's a slick system when it works like it should, and it's been great to be able to clear out spammers first thing in the morning. It makes me feel like I've accomplished something before I even finish my first cup of coffee. :)

Hey, I was just on one of my other forums bumping a swap post, and it wouldn't let me post again right away, saying that you can only post once every 30 seconds. You can also only PM once a minute. Maybe changing those setting on here would help with spammers? That forum is a vBulletin, as well.

Could be. I know that when I try to report a post as spam (back before I could delete them) it would only let me report a spammer once every 30 seconds. I don't know what v-bulletin does and doesn't allow in the setup. My only other group is a Yahoo group, and their filter does a pretty good job catching spammers. I also require an age statement so that any potential member has to contact me personally in order to join...it's not automatic. I expect that's too cumbersome a process for a forum like this one. On the other hand, banning people is a snap, and I never have any trouble logging in to my account like I'm having at the moment trying to delete the new spam. Of course, Yahoo isn't nearly as flexible as this forum is, so it's really hard to sort out discussion topics. I guess it just goes to show you that technology really does have a lot of room for improvement!

Someone else will need to delete today's spam. I can't log in.
