What a week....Received a call from a collision service in Columbus, had no idea what they were talking about, called the insurance co, and find out Austin backed into a maintenance truck and broke out his back window. OMG, what next. He has to pay $250 deductible today at pickup. Hard lesson learned....always look behind you before putting in Reverse. No unempoyment check yet, we are now at 3 weeks. Tonight I am going to the art museum in Toledo for my class. Then I get to write a 5 to 7 page paper, also have another 2 page paper due, among other homework. I am not liking this. Working on getting Dave involved in some training/classes thru the employment center. I am definately not liking him being here during the day while I am working. It is calling for rain for the next 24 hours, how wonderful. Our trees are absolutely beautiful, but the rain is bringing down all the leaves. We were planning a small birthday part for Oct 31 for Dave's mom, she will be 88. Then yesterday, his sister tells me she is inviting all the grandkids and great grandkids.....I wanted to say NO NO NO, what started out with me having a small get together with a handfull of people, has ballooned to who knows what.....some people are so bold.

So life is grand. :). I am grateful I still have my job, but now worrying about what we will do for health insurance. If you are unemployed how can you afford those high rates.....you simply can't.

I hope everyone had a good week and and enjoy the weekend. I know I am looking forward to it. Happy Friday.

Marie,

Have you looked into the cost of Cobra? The feds are covering 60% of the cost for I believe either 9 months or a year. Also unemployment will cover re-training, mainly in the Health Care fields. My friend is entering the LVN program and it is at no cost to her at all. She qualified for $19,000 in Financial Aid and the remainder ($13,000) was paid for by EDD. If you cannot find work in your current field, than you can be retrained. They will cover Psych Tech, LVN, CNA, Resp Tech, Ultrasound Tech, X-Ray Tech, etc. Definately worth your hubs looking into. Most of these programs run under a year and you receive your full unemployment while you are being retrained. Do not count on the EDD office to give you this information. You need to be assertive and ask what is available to you. As far as the wait to get the first check, well unfortunately it takes a while. That is definately not fair, but it is a government institution, and they are not that efficient:mad: These are hardtimes right now and I feel for you. Hang in there and know I am thinking about you.
