I DID ITTTTTTTTTTT
Ok here is the story....finally.
I looked at this set at a local vintage shop for ages. It was marked $45 and I couldn't bring myself to spend that much. It is in pefect condition but it was more than I wanted to pay..I'm cheap.
Well I asked the cashier if the "seller" of the set ever took trades. I figured what could it hurt to ask, right? SHe put the set on the shelf behind the checkout just in case. A couple of days later I got a call from her and she said he was there. He was agreeable to a trade. I gathered up some worthy things and off I went. I really really wanted the set.
I unwrapped some nice things to show him.I brought a little china cewpie doll and a beautiful creamware german pitcher and creamer/sugar. Ok, this is where the nail biting starts. While he was looking at my things a man came to the counter and asked if the set was for sale and how much!!!!! The cashier got it down and was showing it to him and I am freaking!!!!! The seller said, "hummm this is awkward".....AWKWARD welll I guess!!!!. I told the cashier I'm buying it don't sell it. Really, I AM BUYING IT! The seller was not about to trade when people are fighting over his item. At this point I turned to him and said. " You must be feeling pretty smug right now, huh?"
So the man left and I got the set and I did not realize that he had a 20% off sale that ended THAT day. So the set is mine and I will be buried with it.

HaHaHa! GREAT story, Mem! :)
Some things sure do call out to us, don't they? I'm so glad you got the set; it's lovely!

By the way...it's just my opinion, but the cashier should not have been showing the set to the other customer while you were in process of dealing with the seller.

Great spice set!!! I would have done anything to get it also. I have been looking at a braided runner in a favorite antique store that I frequent a lot. I have bought several rugs there, but am obsessed with this one. It is very thin, and that is perfect because I want it for my front door and no other rug works because they are too thick. It is not in particularly fantastic condition, faded and worn, but I love it anyway. The seller does not want to sell it:confused: I have been asking for 4 years!! Your story has inspired me. I think I will have to go there today on my lunch break and see if I can get that rug. I wonder if it will fit down the front of my pants. And can I run fast enough to my car for the getaway???? I will let you know what happens:D

No don't worry he was a "real" customer. The cashier is actually my neighbor. Which if you think about it is even worse that she would try to make the sale while I was standing there. In fact after the man left I told her..."are you crazy, what did you think I drove over here for!!!!! *L*. LOL

They obviously were stupid as they trimmed all the under branches and thus made it more like a normal tree

That is how the 3 trees in my yard are. A long long time ago someone got the idea to trim them. These maginficent trees have now been to reduced to straggley, knotty looking things. The far worse part is that the seed pods fall on the ground around them instead of under them within the piramid.

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/memmey/yow062.jpg This is some of the pink things I have in the kitchen. It is two different colors of pink and I am not sure if I really like them mixed together. I am trying it for a while but I will probably separate them. I'm not all about things being matchy matchy BUT sometimes I think things in " like" groups look better. I may even sell the darker things in my booth......who knows:rolleyes:
I always like looking at pictures so I am tryng to post some.:)

I JUST REALIZED THAT I PUT THIS IN THE WRONG POST....SORRY I'M NOT REALLY CRAZY I PROMISE.

This is a chalkware statue that I got at goodwill for $2.99. It is signed and the undercoat is gold. It is so wonderful. My photography is not good. I wish I knew how to take a better picture of it.
I have taken a break from junking for a while during the holidays. Sometimes I need to get away from it. I think you get burned out. I always said that there was no box too dirty or a corner too dark but I need to stop the "quest" for a while. I have been trying to edit as I always say. For instance all those pink things in my kitchen picture...to me it is too jumbled up and not displayed correctly. Now that I see it from a photo I can see my mistakes...yuck . I'm moving them tonight after work. HAHAHAH ugly

Mem -
glad you are back!

Hey all, to give you an idea of what can happen once you come here - Ms. Memmey and I met a couple of years ago when I was visiting my best friend, Ms. Linda (this is how they talk in the south!). Now every time I go back to New Orleans, we hook up with Mem - either she comes to us or we go there.

Well these two sweet, loving, fun girls are now buds . . . Memmey called me on Sunday just to taunt me to say they were eating, drinking, having fun and junking WITHOUT me!!! See what happens when you become a regular here (though I have a hard time lately checking in)?!

Don't go away again, Mem!!!:D
