I know it has been a while - seems like forever. But at last the kitchen is done and ready for its reveal. There are some things that need to be adjusted..like touchups on the floor and a plank ceiling added later on, and the fridge surround finished but take a look at my album of pics and let me know what you think.

Oh Tammy, it looks wonderfull...I'm so jealous! Love the open shelving and it looks great with your touches of holiday sprinkled about. I took a quick peek while at work, tonight I'll have to look again when I can savor it :).

It is absolutely gorgeous. You and your hubs did a fantastic job:) I guarantee as time goes on, you will love your open shelves even more. I was not sure about mine at first, but love them now. Enjoy your new kitchen and please thank your hubs for his service to our country. I am an airforce brat and know how hard it is when our loved ones leave us to defend our country. Especially at this time of year. I will hold you, your hubs and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Peace be with you and a safe journey for your husband.

Speaking of your sink... what did you end up doing with the other one just like that one, Tammy? Potting bench?

Thanks you all. You make me blush. But most of the credit goes to hubby for all his hard labor. I am the designer he is my cheap labor :)

On the sink...well it is in the box in my garden room. I want to put it into a potting table but it will have to be built cause that dang this is HEAVY. gonna have to wait on that as hubby leaves Wednesday for Afghanistan. So, all major projects are on hold till next July.

Ok, this might be a dumb question, but where did you post your photos? Are they on your blog or somewhere in your profile here?

It is in her blog. :)

I have open shelves next to my sink too and I really like them. It makes putting the dishes away so much easier! And it is two less doors I have to shut behind my hubby. :p

It's beautiful Tammy!!! I love it! It reminds me a lot of Heather Chadduck's kitchen from CL. We have the same stools too. Did you get yours from Overstock? It's hard to pick a favorite part: I love the counters, floors, sink, island, beaded board, chalkboard, pot rack. Heck. I like it all! Great job.

Hey Cc- thanks for all the compliments. Yes I ordered the stools from overstock just like you. Though I had to wait about 8 weeks for them to get back in stock. They are so nice and hold up well to kids.

How is it going being a stay at home person? Are you preggo? Can we start calling you a stay at home mom yet?

they are great stools! pretty comfy too.

so far being a stay at home person is pretty fun. i've been busy with getting my furniture out of my old office, doing dog training stuff, and cleaning. i really like being able to run errands and grocery shop during the day! it's also nice to have time to catch up with friends and family. i've worked 2 jobs for 2 years, so this is the first time i've had off in a long time.

so far no baby update to report. i poas this am but it was negative...going to wait until thursday or friday to test again. it's really early to test + anyway. i will definitely tell you ladies as soon as i know! since you can't tell people in "real" life right away, it will be good to be able to tell y'all.

Tammy - LOVELY kitchen! And the holiday decor is beautiful also!

CC - glad you are having a chance to enjoy some time off. Years ago I was between jobs from October through the end of the year - it was great to be off during the holidays. while I missed a regular check (but did get unemployment), I had time to cook, clean and make holiday gifts. So enjoy. And we'll be here to cheer you on when you are "preggo"!!

It's gorgeous! Can you tell me about your butcher block counter tops? We are thinking of getting them. Did you finish them with something special, or did you poly them? Did you stain them, if not, what type of wood did you use?

Sorry for all the questions, but yours look so nice I'd like to make sure I can get something close to yours in our kitchen!

Hey Mavgal - the counters are from IKEA. They are the oak ones and we just bought their sealer for them. It is oil and for the first year you are supposed to oil them every 6 months. After that it is usually once a year unless needed more. They are holding up wonderfully on the counters..but the island where the messy kids eat need to be reoiled already..When you have to scrub the hell out of them to get fruity pebbles that have dried like cement on them well it scuffs the top seal off.
But I love them and am so glad we didn't go the extra to get granite or soapstone..they are awesome and add some warmth to the kitchen.

Thanks for the info on the counters. Too bad we don't have an IKEA around here, they were supposed to come to our town a year ago, but haven't seen them yet. We know someone that will build some for us, so I think I'll go with the oak for sure. Thanks again!
