My sister gave me the rocker she had used with her boys (now teenagers). I've been intending to recover the cushions for a couple of years now and finally got around to it. The first picture shows one of the original blue cushions. The others are the reversible cushions I just made in pink and yellow (to go with the chair I recovered in the spring). It's a load off my mind to have this done at last! Before you open the pictures, remember that I have never claimed to be a seamstress!
This summer I'm going to repaint the rocker. I might make it apple green. We'll see what kind of mood I'm in when I get around to it. :)

Oh, shabby...I love the way they look! The soft yellow and pink really bring out the cottagey feel of the rockers. Along with the other chair you recovered (and your lovely tree), everything looks wonderful. You may not be an upholsterer, but you sure did a fine job! :)

Thanks, you guys. I really have fallen in love with the pink, yellow, and green color combination. This spring I'm going to repaint my upstairs bathroom with the same pink that is in my bedspread. It's been a soothing peachy color for five years, and I never have really liked it. It's time to go a little wild! I'm so glad you liked the chairs. I wish I'd paid better attention in sewing class when I was in junior high. :)

Ha! Don't we all?!
Actually, I've always had a problem with patterns - I am more of a free-spirit...used to make clothes for my dolls just sort of "winging it". Now I'm not saying they were gorgeous clothes (Ha, again!), but I don't think I like the rules of sewing with patterns.
At any rate, I'm on the same wavelength as you are, with the colors. In my new, tiny bedroom, I just ordered a soft green bedspread for the daybed, and I have a solid pink and a solid yellow pillow to go on there. On the other side of the small room, I am going to hang a small quilt. in shades of blue, over my computer, here. The room is going to have lots of (soft) colors! (Forgot to say that the room used to be knotty pine, but I painted it white.) Especially after the dullness of winter, I think we'll love seeing all the colors.

I know I've been away too long when I look at a heading that says "recovered rocker" and I think we have a troubled, musical newbie in our midst!
The chairs look great and the tree is amazing!

Thank you, Lynzee. Lisa, when I wrote that title, I thought maybe I ought to hyphenate the word re-covered. But, hey, made you look! :)

Yes, you did! Did you recover the chair on the left? I have one with the same body, but not the beautiful cover. I bought it because I liked the shape, but I haven't done anything with it yet.

Lisa, I refinished the chair on the left and sewed the new cushions for it this spring. I had to take an upholstery class to learn how to do it, and it took me forever because, being the lousy seamstress I am, I had to do almost every step at least twice to get it right. But I'm happy with it now. The chair has been in the family at least since I was born. There are pictures of me sitting on it as a baby. My mom re-covered the cushions in the 70s (she actually was a pretty good seamstress) and I took it to my apartment when I started college. It has been with me and in need of some attention for the last thirty years, and I finally got around to fixing it up this year. I've sewn a little terrycloth cover to put over the cushions most of the time so the cat can sit up there without getting hair all over everything. They are slightly more attractive than draping a towel over the chair. I need to go buy a Sewing for Dummies book.

You did a lovely job. You're leaps and bounds ahead of me in the seamstress department. The only aspect of sewing in which I excel is seam ripping.
I love the history of your chair. Pieces like that warm your heart.

Love the colors . . . ones I am slowing moving to! Great tree, too!
