Hi everyone! I haven't been around for a while, I've been helping hubby apply for teaching jobs. Finally, after working a year as a substitute, he was gifted with his dream job! He will be working in a small school (K-12) teaching HS English and maybe some World History. We have been very happy in our little pyramid roof with gables cottage this past year, but we were able to find another bungalow in the little town we are moving to. I am just thrilled! I call it my dream house. It has built ins, gorgeous hardwood floors, and NONE of the woodwork has been painted!:D

Time yet again to decorate my friends! My first question is, what kind of curtains would typically be in a circa 1921 bungalow kitchen?
I'll try to get some pics posted soon!

Congratulations on both your hubby's new job and your new home, farmgal!

I tried to do a quick search for you for curtains, but came up dry. I have to rush out today but I'll look again when I get a chance. You must be so excited about all the new decorating possibilities! :)

Congratulations on the new teaching post for your husband and on scoring a great new house. I know nothing about curtains of that era so will be no help to you there. I can't wait to see your pictures. The house sounds wonderful.

Nothing frilly, maybe some simple linen-look curtains, maybe stenciled? Here are some pretty motifs:

Ann Wallace also has some nice shades:

Stenciled curtains, awesome idea! And I love the different motifs you showed me. When looking at 1920's kitchens online mostly I saw NO curtains or lace ones. But I have done stenciling before and it goes so well with the craftsman houses. Thanks!

I LOVE it! So cozy...it won't be hard to turn that house into a home. Best of luck!

I know, I LOVE it! I have pics of the inside, but the previous owners things are still in the house, and they might not appreciate me sharing that with everyone. But I will make sure to take some new ones to show you all after we close on the house. Here's a question for ya, In one of the bedrooms there is a 24"x24" built in "cabinet" in one of the walls. There is a door with trim around it, just like the other doors in the room. On the other side of that wall is the open stairwell that goes down to the basement. So what do ya think? Maybe they were just taking advantage of that unused space by putting storage there? I wonder if it was supposed to be where you put your hat boxes, the house was built in 1921, after all. I'll definitely be taking a picture of it to show you guys!:D

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

Absolutely love the porch too. I truly miss not having a "real porch" on my house. I can't wait to see pictures.

LOVE the porch!!

About the cabinet, I'd guess it was just extra storage, because bungalows traditionally were very efficient at tucking things into unused spaces.

I figured it was extra storage too. The kitchen has a built in spice cabinet! Stuff like that is SOOOO cool!
