I'm baaaccckkk! We survived our trip to Texas by way of Memphis, and I never ever want to make the drive back from Texas in one day again. It took us 17.5 hours because of the rain.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Marie - How did everyone like your homemade gifts? The pickles we gave were a huge hit. I took a big quart jar to the family Christmas Party on Monday, and they were gone in an hour!

I'm going to try to catch up on all the threads tonight and tomorrow! Happy New Years!

Missed you too CC was kinda quiet on here except for the smut peddlers.
How was Texas? I love Texas.
Hey got you beat- we did a 21 hour drive non-stop with me and 3 kids in the car- one being 3 months old to get to our house before the moving van..No hubby to help. :(
But I hate driving in rain- scares me.

Where in Texas did you go?

I didn't do any real shopping, but we did visit that shop "Brown" in Houston that is featured on the Cote de Texas blog. It was amazing and wonderful and made me want to have lots of money. I found the PERFECT cabinet for our guest bath vanity, but it was $3900!!! Seriously. They also had those big lantern light fixtures. I want one for our dining area so badly, but they are like 1500 bucks. Any ideas on where to get a cheap knockoff or a fixer upper?

On Christmas Day we drove to Memphis to stay with my step-sister and her family (my parents were there too). It was fun...we drank wine, sat by the fire, read decorating books. Y'all would LOVE her house! It was built in 1938 - original plaster, fixtures, kitchen cabinets, dark trim.

Sunday we drove to DH's parent's farm north of Houston, then Monday we drove 2 hours to Woodville Tx to a family Christmas party at a farm. That was lots of fun!

Then Tuesday we drove into Houston to see DH's grandmother and to have dinner with his sister and mom. Drove back to the country (near Lake Conroe) that night.

Other highlights included visiting the biggest whole foods store I've ever seen in Baton Rouge. I'll try to post pictures of the stuff I saw at Brown.

Tammy - I forgot to mention that I cannot imagine driving that far in the rain with small children. Sounds like it could drive you to drink!

No No CC - I can't drink and drive what kind of message would that send my kids? :)
Acutally I always used to drive alone with kids as we were always stationed far from my parents so for me to take the babies home while hubby worked I had to drive alone. It USED to be fun but being older now it hurts my back to drive long distances. But I do miss hitting the hotels and then swimming with little ones to tire them out then all of us crashing in one bed to sleep early so we can get up early and leave. ahhh memories.

I meant drive you to drink once you arrived at your destination!! Drinking and driving is never a good idea :)

Well done, you did a great job. It's too hard to drive for 21 hours without stopping. Moving with children without your hubby is really a stressful experience but I'm glad that your kids have been behave while on the trip.
