Ok what have you got?
Up here is wet and warm... too warm. The winter Olympics are less then a month away and yesterday they had to shut down one of the mountains to "preserve snow". The other day we broke a record high too - yikes! I've already got snowdrops in the garden and I could swear I saw daffs poking up!!

It's warm and wet here in the Seattle area, too. They're talking about possible flooding tonight, as we're supposed to get more heavy rain today. This is spring weather for us, which makes me wonder what spring is going to be like!
ChapterTwo

It's 24 degrees and cloudy in the Northeast at 8 a.m. Tomorrow and through the weekend we're headed for sunny skies and mid-forties. (YESSSS! I'm going to take the car through the carwash and then vacuum it out.)
On Sunday there's a 50% chance of a rain/snow mix in the evening.
Heather - I guess they have snow making machines, in case they need them, for the Olympics?
I hope you have no flooding tonight, shabbychick...
have a site on my desktop with a countdown to Spring...64 days 'til March 20th!
Heather

Yes, they have snow making machines but I think it has to be zero degrees so it doesn't melt - that's what I heard anyways.

Weather my way is warm and sunny. Temps to be in the mid to upper 70's today and tomorrow. We did have some rain yesterday, but mainly light rain and it ended in the am. We are expecting to get some wind starting today and it is supposed to rain all next week and heavy at times. But even with the rain our temps will only go down to the 60's at the most, maybe a high 50 a day or two.:)

It has been in the 20's but today we are at 45 and supposed to hit 57 by the end of the day. Saturday is supposed to hit 60's woo hoo

Our temps have been in the teens at night  but we are supposed to see a warming trend. I sure hope so! Brrrrrr!

NW Ohio
7 day forecast is mid to upper 30's.....nights at mid 20's. Warm for us. Our snow is almost melted. It is overcast and dreary. I would rather have snow snow snow.
This probably explains why most of my daycare crew is sick with the barking cough and colds. The sickness stays away much better when it stays "cold".

Well Southern CA is floating away:eek: Yesterday we had rain for a solid 8 hours, heavy non-stop. Today there is another storm on the way, but is expected to be less rain, but a lot of thunder storms. The winds were clocked at 80-100mph yesterday!!! We were lucky and only got mild wind, but the town next to us is still on flood watch, lost many many trees and the water in the rain culvert is running at 30mph. My town does not have sidewalks, just horsetrails, so we are notorious for flooding. Luckily hubs and I went out and trenched all around our property and also put about dozens of sandbags, so we are ok. Our only problem is that last year we put up new raingutters and they warped. We put up the plastic as we could not find any galvanized. What a waste of money. The plastic are crap!!! Luckily hubs was able to fix them temporarily, but what a pain. We are bracing for more bad weather, as another storm is heading in Wednesday and a terrible one is expected for Thursday. We are expecting to double or triple our yearly rainfall, just this week. When they say it Never Rains in Southern CA, they are WRONG;)

Northern California checking in, we too are floating away. It supposed to be the worst tomorrow but looks like rain thru the week and into next.I work at a school lots of absences today after a 3 day weekend. A few parents called and asked if it was safe to come to school:confused:
Stay dry Vintage girl and be safe if you are on the road driving. My son is in Huntington Beach and he says its crazy wet there.

Great Heather - just what the Olympics needs a mild winter in BC...haha
the flowers look awesome though. I have so many poking up getting ready to bloom soon also. Daffodils, hyacinths, even my sedum is growing back and my stella de orro lillies are poking through. Bring it on I am ready to move on to spring.
And good news our mean, nasty, bit**y neighbor and her mean kids are moving next week or so..yeah it is all good. :)

We are under a winter storm warning. Expecting a few inches of snow~but it's mostly ice that the warning covers. If we get the 3/4 inch expected, we will probably lose power. Last ice storm we got an inch of pure ice and our power was out for 12 days:eek:.
Hope the flooding is better for all of you out in California.
I do have jonquils pushing up:)! I'm looking forward to their pretty yellow blooms.

We have sunshine today~woohoo.
We have been living in this dark-gloomy-gray world, and its been so depressing. I am a much happier person when there is sunshine. Of course we are expecting more rain later this week, but I'm enjoying this while I can.

We are just getting missed by the latest winter storm. :( I WANT SNOW! I see Washington DC is supposed to have the storm of the century. 1 hour south of us is supposed to have 6 inches. We are calling for 2 to 4, but that is iffy at this point. I will be so disappointed if we don't get something. I want SNOW!

We are raining again. Not a heavy rain, but steady and just enough to make commuting a nightmare. I am so thankful I take the train to and from work. I do have to drive about 16 miles from the train to work, but only three miles from the trainstation to my house, on the other end. It is supposed to rain all day today and tomorrow and possibly some thundershowers, than clear up and start all over again next weekend:( But I really cannot complain, no ice or snow. Just hope everyone stays warm and safe:)

Our snow started about 5:30 last night thru about 12 midnight. While it is hard to tell exactly how much we got due to high winds, and still windy, I am guessing maybe 3 inches, I will know more when I go out to snowblow. I live in the very northwest corner of Ohio near the Ind, Oh, Mich line. My son lives in Columbus which is in the middle of the state, and last night he said they had over 8 inches of snow.
Supposedly there is another storm to come thru Tue or Wed. It is so very pretty.

I've been looking at the pictures online of the snow you're getting on the East Coast. Holy Cow! I hope none of you have to go out in that. I have a friend who has been on a business trip in Alaska (where the weather is actually very nice this week) and is now unable to travel back to her home in Baltimore because of the snow there. Kind of ironic to have to stay in Alaska to avoid the snow. :)

We have broke the record for having snow still on the ground, last I heard that was 45days straight but it would be longer now. We did get some warmer weather Thursday which melted any of the snow that fell and did compact the previous snow. But it is still out there and it snowed again on Friday and today. We are looking at more tomorrow. Nothing massive quantities probably under an inch or so. I'm soooo sick of it! On the plus side at least I don't have to look at the winter dead grass/weeds. :o

Marie,
There's something that always feels so pioneer to me about being ready for bad weather (even though the pioneers couldn't really see it coming as far out as we can). Having gas in the car, food in the fridge, a handy stack of firewood (or in my case, a gas fireplace), and a camp stove ready so you can make coffee even if the power goes out just feels so self-sufficient. I've got a friend who is stranded in, of all places, Alaska because of all the snow in Maryland!!
It sounds like you're going to be safe and sound and able to enjoy the snow. I love how everything seems to go so quiet in the snow and how that white blankets beautifies the whole area. Enjoy your blizzard!! Do you have some good books to read or a craft to do while you're housebound?
ChapterTwo
02-08-2010, 04:17 AM
I thought that was a riot (not really, but you know...) that your friend from MD can't go back home from Alaska due to the blizzard in Maryland!
At another time, if you told this story to someone, they'd think you had your facts confused!
And of course, now we're due to get more snow on the Mid-Atlantic coast. This time, we may not be so lucky as we were last week, as they're saying we might get a foot of snow. We'll see...

I will probably still be working....3 of my moms are nurses, 1 at the hospital and 2 at the medical center. My guess, I won't have any time off. I am hoping classes are cancelled at the college, since it is a 20 miles drive there.

Yup, that was the storm I was writing about...I had added on to my old post (which I shouldn't have done) and so the date said the 9th, but the part about the storm was really from the 10th.
The sidewalks and streets are still icy, but it's sunny, so that will help.

ChapterTwo, ten inches much be beautiful! I'm glad the limb missed your tree--and your house! We had a tree limb fall on one of our cars a few years ago. Left a very large dent. Luckily, it was an older car and made of stronger stuff than these new ones, else it would have been toast!
It is snowing here...again. We're expecting 2-3 inches. My jonquils are peeking up through the snow. If a couple of warm days will sneak in, they will bloom for me:).

Finally! WE. HAVE. SNOW!!!!!! :D About an inch on the ground and it's still coming down hard! They are predicting 4-6 inches. I know it doesn't compare to what some of you get, but for the Alabama/Florida border, I think it's pretty impressive! Of course, everything here has come to a complete standstill.
The flowers are beautiful, Heather! I am looking forward to spring but, for now, I am really enjoying the snowfall. Haven't seen snow since we left upstate NY in '03.
I'm glad the limb missed everything, CT! We are a little concerned about that here because we are surrounded by huge pine trees. Keeping our fingers crossed...
Take care and stay warm, everyone!:)

Well we always have good weather year round for the most part here in Southern CA. But, we had a lot of rain. This past weekend it was beautiful and hubs and I barbecued and just hung out. Well we have our bathroom all tore apart, as we are planning on painting and installing beadboard this weekend. Guess what??? It is supposed to rain again:rolleyes: Not a problem for the painting, but it is a little hard to cut beadboard in the rain. Hubs just called with a backup plan. We are going to set up the saw on the back patio which is right next to our backdoor. Normally I would just say hold off until the following weekend, but we have the bathroom completely tore apart and everything is on my diningroom table. No matter what happens, that bathroom is going to get done:)
