Thank you for all the compliments. I have lots of pics and will post more. I love to meet people who understand my style. Most people say how does your husband live in all the white and pink.

Welcome to the forums! My cottage style uses a little more vibrant color and varied wood textures, but it was all crafted and cobbled together as I rented my way across a couple of states and a handful of moves (not to mention raiding family garages, vintage stores, etc.) - - so, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME - - I love the fact that your rental space is very simply "home". We all search for home for a long time and you never know where you are going to find it! Your living room is really pretty. Have you run into any decorating concerns (i.e. are you allowed to paint? - - that kind of stuff) that we can help you solve. Everyone around here helped me a lot when I needed guidance on my rental space!

Happy decorating ...

When we downsized and rented this apartment the manager allowed us to come in and repaint and change out light fixtures. I took out the flat mirror in the batheroom in put a white painted Eastlake mirror and a new light fixture and painted the walls a pale pink. The rest of the apartment is painted a sage green. I put a cute pink and white chandi from Lowes in the livingroom. So they pretty much let you do what you want as long as it is in good taste.

Hi, I sent you a message in you mail box -- guess I could of just posted it here. What is a Eastlake mirror that you mention for the bathroom?
I love your decorating style and am slowing converting my place like that.
If you can, please show pictures of your other rooms.
Thanks.

If you go to hgtv rate my space. Search tbbellville and you should be able to find a bunch of pictures I posted on there when I had my house. the eastlake mirror should be in the batheroom pictures. Make sure you search only on the rate my space search bar not the hgtv search.

I'm so enjoying viewing your photos. WOWie, I love them all.
Some of my favorites:

--- That bathroom mirror is beautiful. I want one.
--- Your bed and dresser are stunning.
--- I love how you decorated your outside porch area.

Thanks for sharing !!

I am starting to adjust. I will be a year next month we moved. I tried to make it look like my house but on a smaller scale. Thank you for making me feel better. Sometimes I get depressed living in an apartment but I know it is for our best here. The economy is so bad. I dont drive by the house anymore. I have as they say moved on.

Last year I moved from the house I raised my children in, and lived in for 31 years. It was also my grandparents' house. Due to a lot of different circumstances, I feel sort of traumatized by the move, so I do understand your situation. I'm in a smaller house now and I am trying to make it my own.
Just like you, I will never drive by my old house.

You certainly have duplicated the style and the feel that you had in the house. As I said yesterday, it's absolutely lovely, and I really enjoyed looking at the photos last night! :)

Your apartment is lovely. I understand how you feel. I lost my home in the housing/economy bust in the early 90's. It took over three years for the house to finally sell and it is vacant again due to the current economy. I am now remarried and moved into my current husbands home. Luckily we are doing well, but you just never know. It is hard times right now:( A home is what you make of it, and your apartment is absolutely gorgeous and your home whether you are renting or own it. You should be proud of yourself that you made the best of your situation with pride and perseverance. And obviously good design;):)

Thank you for all the encouragement. I have started to love my apartment. It looks cuter every time I do something new. Just got an antique wicker chair and redid it will have to post some pictures later.

You are so lucky that the landlord let you paint and replace light fixtures. None of my landlords ever did that (well except for the one my bf and I moved into the summer after high school graduation), maybe that is why I've painted ever vertical surface in my home.:p I was a frustrated decorator.

You fit in just fine here. Like Rubyslippers mentioned. cottage is a state of mind, if your house happens to lend it self to such all the better. We've seen so many cute interiors that you would never suspect from the outside. You've done an amazing job. :)
