Ok on this picture (it's from the movie Something's Gotta Give) above the doorways, the glass? window frames - what are those called anyways? Please and thank you....

Heather, I can only remember, in grammar school, they called the window above the door the "transom". I don't know if the same holds true for the one in the photo.
(LOVED that movie, by the way! Has anyone seen, "It's Complicated" with Meryl Streep/Alec Baldwin/Steve Martin? It was a riot!)

I would kill for the house in It's Complicated. Went with a friend and she leaned in and said "there's the house for you" - does she know me or what?! LOVE that house. See the movie for the house, if no other reason. Though I thought the movie was just flat out fun!

Just got back from the movie Its Complicated. I haven't laughed at a movie in a long time. What an incredible house and the vegetable garden is to die for.

Yes, we're in agreement...that was one heck of a house in "It's Complicated".
My friend and I said we want to rent the movie when it comes to DVD so we can pause it and admire the house/garden more thoroughly! ;)

OK I have another "what is this called"! See on this picture, attached to the cabinet facing the window. Looks like onions in a glass vase? I got it here: http://fleamarketstylemag.blogspot.com/2010/01/foreign-intrigue.html

Are you wondering if they are onions? yes they are .
Or are you wondering what the onions are in? It looks like an old glass mailbox. They were made during the time when victorian homes were being built. I have seen a couple for sale on ebay and always wondered what you could use them for..well wala.. to hold onions of course.

Oh ok thanks. I've never seen a glass mailbox before and also - aren't onions supposed to be stored in a dark & cool place?

I think they'd be amazing if you put pebbles in the bottom and forced bulbs in them all year. Heck you could have tulips in the middle of winter smiling at your window in the kitchen..
Of course they'd look really cute full of conversation hearts candy - or m&m's .
can you tell i am craving some candy? haha
