Well the sectional is being delivered today, I'm a nervous wreak. Its a slip-covered sectional in natural color, I'm imagining a white elephant in my living room .
I've cleared out the room and its now a waiting game.
Of course its not just going to be brought in all ready to go. Oh no... we do have to assemble a bit and put on the slipcovers. From what I've read in the reviews this is not an easy task! So I'm ready for a work out.
I haven't ordered new furniture in probably 15 years, so I'm hoping this goes well.
I'll post progress pics and hopefully by tonight I won't be a puddle of tears but lying on my new couch happy as a clam.

Heres the room already to go

Do not fear - "natural" gives you all sorts of possibility to add color! It will be wonderful...I can't wait to hear.

Think positive thoughts...

Yikes they are here and thank goodness its not raining like they predicted. They are in the front now and it looks like they are putting the slipcovers on-woohoo. Be back with updates. Thanks for all your encouraging words.

Yaaaay! I'm glad they're putting the slipcovers on - those things can sometimes be intimidating.

It's in and boy it huge! The delivery guys were great! They put on the slipcovers and assembled this monstrosity. I love it and so does DH. I quickly threw on the pillows to show you guys. I'll spend the next few days tweaking it. I haven't even sat on it yet.

Looks like I'm going to have to find something to put on that bare area on the wall by the floor lamp.

Here's the pics, sorry about the quality took them quickly!

thanks for helping me thru this stress.

I'm working in my kitchen - spackling and painting, but had to run up to see how it all went with the delivery

Mary Ann...that space looks like it was made for that sectional - PERFECT!

Thanks for keeping us updated...
I know - in times of stress like that, it helps to have support! ;)

Thank you so much everyone.

I tell you when they brought it in I almost fainted at the size. I won't be doing anymore rearranging thats for sure.... this baby is staying put!

I'm so glad I went with this one, the color of the fabric is just perfect and its looks like it'll be very durable, its a denim material.
For the record, I didn't see this in person or sit on it prior. I went completely by customer reviews, so that's why I was terrified.

So now I'm going to just plop myself down and relax.

It's very pretty. I can imagine reading a magazine or book on it by the sunny window or taking a nap on it. Congratulations.

One of my dreams is to one day own a sofa I can comfortably stretch out on for a nap without either my head or my feet having to rest on an arm. Bliss!

Thank you all. It's so comfortable. We're getting ready to settle in and watch a movie, the only arguement may be who gets the corner section:D

Carrie, there will no doubt be many a nap on this couch.

Shabby too funny. I always got the love-seat before and my legs always were propped/hanging off the arms.

You have a beautiful room! The sectional looks great. Last year, I was a complete wreck waiting on my new chair to arrive (and an even bigger wreck when they delivered the wrong thing) - - so, I feel your anxiety and am THRILLED everything went according to plan. I think the natural denim will wear beautifully. I also think you will have all kinds of options concerning throw pillows, blankets, etc. The natural shade works beautifully with the light from the windows and the wood on the floor. I think the fireplace even "pops" a little more! I'm glad the on-line reviews gave you the courage to go for something that works so well.

I actually really like my couch. It was my first purchase in the first apartment I live in on my own without a roomie back-in-the-day. It is navy and camel-backed with rolled arms and it is HUGE. It has held up incredibly well and is nice for taking a nap. I have hauled the cushions into the dry cleaner before for a little TLC, but overall I have been VERY lucky. I think a spring broke awhile ago and the cushions are getting a little flat. I'm not prepared for a new sofa purchase, but I've gotta tell you that this really looks wonderful! I'm not sure I would have thought "sectional" but it really REALLY works in your room. I'm inspired. Thanks for posting the pics!

Oh Mary Ann - your new couch is fabulous! It really suits your space, you couldn't have picked out a nicer sofa. You'll be able to accessorize it in so many ways too! Enjoy....

rubyslippers...I remember we were all doing a little hand holding while you were going through the chair episode a while back! ;)

It's always nerve-wracking to get a big piece delivered...it is a world away from buying a lamp or something else small and if you don't like it, you carry it back to the store!

But happy endings are good...

I love your sofa!!! You will really enjoy it. My mom actually prefers to sleep on ours instead of in our guest bed! Maybe that says something about the mattress?

What brand is your sofa? It looks SOOO good.

I'm so pleased with this purchase.

Cohen, I ordered from JCP and its called their Linden Street Friday sectional.

I can't emphasis enough what wonderful delivery service I received. I had no problem with ordering either, it was a dream.

Chapter Two, oh so true. I'm the queen of returns too, but this is a keeper.

That's the other one that I almost ordered!! I was too chicken since I couldn't sit on it first.

Thanks for giving a positive referral for the JCP delivery team. I am SO impressed they helped you put everything together and managed the pesky slipcovers! Chapter Two, you are absolutely right that I had a bit of debacle with RTG over my chair-delivery awhile back. The actual delivery men did nothing wrong ... the actual mistake was also an honest mistake ... my issue was with the customer service resolving the concern so-to-speak. When you are twiddling your thumbs waiting on pins and needles at home for something to be delivered that you have saved for - - well, it can lead to some jangly nerves. Everything turned out just fine with my chair (plus, I learned a valuable lesson or two in keeping my cool) - - also, I am ecstatic to see this sectional arriving so well and so easily! It restores my faith in the fact that you can still get quality products in the on-line realm. It is hard to have to order on-line if that makes sense. I ended up picking up my rocking chair at Pier 1 because I was too scared to go for something from Target.com or Urbanoutfitters.com that was on-line only. So, I am ecstatic to find out that this "worked" for you. YIPPEE! Are you still loving it? Any more tweaking of lamps, throw pillows, etc., - - did you get off the couch at all this weekend?! I would have been a little lump curled up in the corner as happy as a cat in the sunshine. Congrats again!

Rubyslippers, The LR was usually the DH's domain and I would watch TV in the back...can't stand his constant channel surfing. Anyway my bum has been glued to this couch this weekend. Haven't done much tweaking, very happy right now. Looking forward to the spring when I can switch up the drapes and the pillows.
Ummm, looked over to the couch and DH looks very comfy stretched out.

The other happy camper in the house is the cat. Since the old couches are out in the garage she is like goldilocks going from couch to couch. She hasn't set paw on the new one yet.

Cohen, two years of looking at JCP and eyeing the Jaden sectional,I was all set to order it until I looked at the Friday sectional. I realized I liked the color better and the ability to add the armless chair for a longer look. It was a bit more expensive but the reviews were good. So when I hit the submit button on the computer I thought I was going to have a heart attack. So some little couch fairy was watching over me, because the results worked out in my favor.

It looks wonderful in your room (and I want the chair in that room!). My sofa is slipcovered and I take it off twice a year (just did it last weekend) and wash it. I can get the sofa cover in one load and the cushion covers in a 2nd load. My only regret is not going for a white cover that can be bleached. After nearly 6 years, the pale yellow has a couple of stains (which I hide by using a quilt on the seat cushions). But it is a cotton duck fabric and it wears like steel. You won't regret getting a slipcover.

oh goodness CD, i wish i could get away with washing my slipcovers 2x per year. we have to wash them every month or so b/c of the dogs even though we don't let them get on the furniture! i also wish i had a white set too for the summer time. ours are dark charcoal gray, so we've had no issues with staining.

Oooh, weren't you nervous ordering through JCP? What if you didn't like it or it didn't fit? They don't refund shipping charges anymore. Otherwise, I'd give it a try, I love your set!

I love love love the sofa. That is exactly what I wish I had. There is plenty of room for guests and it looks soft and inviting. That is a good conversation sofa. Can we drink red wine in there????:D I'll be careful I promise....:p

Memmy, I must admit I've been a little a-nal about food etc in the room.

Mavgal, I was beyond nervous. I never in my life had ever done or ordered anything that large sight unseen. I read the reviews and kept my fingers crossed.

Fencesilove, thank you very much.
