Wondering if anyone has seen the new HGTV Magazine that currently has the first issue out. I found it at our grocery store. Was $3.99. Haven't really gotten a chance to sit down and read it yet. I didn't even know there was going to be a magazine from the tv station, I just happend to be flipping channels and came across the "Making of HGTV" magazine.

I did see the HGTV Magazine in our CVS Drug Store, Marie. I'm a little turned off by the network because it focuses way too much on real estate for me, so I just thumbed through the issue quickly. And most of the shows that aren't about real estate are about BIG renovations...sooooo, being that I already have a house and don't have the $$ to tear it apart, I don't have much interest.
I long for the days of "Country Style", "Room by Room", "Decorating Cents", and my favorite, "The Carol Duvall Show", when there was some diversity in topics on HGTV and some ideas that I could really apply.

I miss those shows that made great improvements on low budgets. I don't watch HGTV near as much as I used to. My favs were/are: Design on a Dime, Decorating Cents, Designed to Sell (the $2000 budget), all I can think of right now.
I wonder what happened to the red headed lady who used to do Decorating Cents (I think), I really liked her. She did amazing things on $500.

I loved Decorating Cents and Carol Duval. Learning how to turn trash to treasure if right up my alley. I can afford that, not the home redo for thousands of dollars they show now. I thought they were starting a new channel for crafters. Wonder what happened to that?

Oh, yes, "Design on a Dime"...I liked that too! And while Kitty
Bartholomew was a little annoying (sorry), I liked her show.
Marie, I liked Joan Steffend so much on "Decorating Cents" too...She was very "real", and we really were able to learn some things that would help us on a shoestring budget.
Although I loved the whole show, my favorite part was the end of the program, with the "Trash to Treasure" segment.
Claudia - I'm not sure if this is what you meant about a "crafters" channel...I think I may have mentioned CreateTV.com in another thread. They have a lot of different programs, including some featuring sewing, cooking, gardening, painting, travel, etc., etc.
If you want to see which channel in your area carries this (PBS) network, look on the left side of the following page, and find your state. Look under the calendar where it says STATION FINDER (Scroll UP when the page first opens): http://www.createtv.com/CreateProgram.nsf/ScheduleLookup?ReadForm#11:00AM
I REALLY love the "Growing Bolder" programs...they are so inspiring! :D

I don't watch much HGTV anymore either but I do enjoy watching "Get It Sold" with Sabrina Soto.
She goes in and helps people stage their homes which are on the market but not selling. The budget is usually not much and she has so many neat ideas. Plus she's always upbeat and fun.

I agree, Breezy. Sabrina Soto is wonderful on HGTV and that show offers tips that don't involve knocking down walls!
Has anyone had a chance to look for that CREATE TV network that I mentioned in the post above? It's refreshing - something like HGTV, when it began.
