I'm thinking of putting exterior shutters on my house... I think they would look really cute but I worry about the brick being so old that it might be damaged by trying to install shutters. I also hesitate because the house is over 130 years old and I don't think it has ever had shutters - and I want to keep it as original as possible.

What do you think? What color would you suggest?

I will attach some pics of the house so you can get a visual.

I think shutters would be cute. I personally wouldn't worry too much about whether the house had them before as long as you get shutters that look like they belong on that house. You might see if you can find someone who specializes in old houses to install the shutters without damaging the brick. I think white, red, or even black shutters would look great. Good luck!

Really GREAT old house! Honestly, I don't think I would do shutters at all. It looks so good just as it is, and, as you say, probably has never had shutters. I would stay true to the original apparance, but that's just me.

I love shutters also, but I am with Allen, I think your house is absolutely lovely just as it is:)

Your windows and house are beautiful. No shutters needed. Those windows have some really nice architecture already. :)

I adore your house. I have to agree that I don't think shutters are necessary.

Okay i think you've talked me out of the shutters.

I'll leave her as she be!

Although I did think some sky blue shutters would look really cute...
