Hello Everyone, :)
Can you believe this??? Early tuesday morning around quarter to 3, I had severe back pain, and could barely stand up. By 8:00 a.m. I called my doctor and he had me go right to the hospital for some more testing. I had our oldest daughter Nicole take me. Once we got there, the order was to admit me. Here I go again! I was so upset. They ran some more test, and found that I had more clustering from the original stone. As you remember, I was just in for surgery last wednesday, as well as December 15th. They set me up on pain management, and did the surgery wednesday morning. They had a hell of a time getting an I.V. in to me, along with drawing any blood.
It was awful. I also ended up with a severe migraine on top of all of this.
I told the surgeon-doctor, that this is getting really old, and I can't do this anymore. The whole time I was there, they had problems drawing blood, and my veins would blow where the I.V. sites were. They finally called in an I.V specialist. Let me tell you, for me to tell them enough is enough, and I want to go home, you know it had to be painful. I was released early thursday morning, and they sent me home with 4-new prescriptions, which Nicole picked up for me. The total cost of these new meds was $220, and this amount was after using my co-pay!! !
I hope this is my final surgery, three in a month is a bit too much. The surgeon stated that when the original stone was Lipotripsied, it cause fragments. These fragments clustered causing more stones. This time around, I had more clusters, and new stones. (SIGH) I am going to be out of work for a week, and then once I return, I will be on a week of light duty. Once again, I am on bed rest. I might not be on here for a couple of days, due to me being physically and mentally exhausted, as well as, being in a lot more pain this time. Again, I wanted to thank all of you for your moral support and well-wishes. They mean so much to me.
Have a good day everyone.
Big Hugs & Love,
Linda :)

Oh, Linda...nooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I am so very sorry to hear you had to have yet another surgery. I was wincing while reading all you went through...you poor girl!
My question is why they can't make sure they have it ALL, before sending you home? With all of the technology today, I'd think that wouldn't be so hard. Maybe there's more to it than I realize. I'm sure you don't want to make surgery your new hobby! :o
And the cost of the prescriptions (after co-pays!) made my eyes pop open. Just horrible...
At any rate, please know that I'm thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery...and no more surgeries!
Hugs,
Kim

Linda,
I'm so sorry to hear about this! It sounds like a miserable experience. Modern medicine really isn't as modern as it needs to be, is it? Send you hugs and healing vibes!!

Try to enjoy the bedrest . . . read a great book, page through pretty magazines (I'd be making my husband go buy plenty of 'em), meditate. You deserve to just lie around!!

Good Morning Ladies, :)
Thank you for the kind words, prayers, and the get well-wishes. Apparently because the original stone was so big, this is where the problem comes in. They used lithotripsy (sp?) On the first stone, which basically blew it apart. They were hoping the fragments would have gone out of the ureter tube, and that is why I had the stent put in me, so it would widen the tube. The second time, they saw the fragments had clustered, and formed new stones. That time they used laser surgery. This final time, they said they hoped they got it all, and that no new stones will form. God willing they won't. I only had the one out-patient day, which I think didn't help sending me home so early. You know once you are home, you push yourself and try to get things done that need attending to. I am actually getting more rest at home, than I did while in the hospital. I have 4-medications, so I hope these will help. I have to go see the doctor again in February, this time I hope it is good news.
Thank you all again. I truly appreciate you caring. Have a wonderful day today.
Big Hugs & Love,
Linda :)

Too bad your body doesn't manufacture diamond type "stones", Linda. Then, at least, you'd get a reward for all the pain and trouble! :D
My father used to always say that - you can't rest in the hospital...someone's always coming into your room, poking you or taking your temp. or pressure or whatever.
Rest, Rest, REST!

LOL! ChapterTwo. My surgeon says he rarely has stones that are hard as diamonds. Leave it to me to have those very kinds of stones. I wonder if I can find a market for mine? Is anyone here interested in Kidney Stone jewelry? :D
Have a good day!

Chyna, trying to rest in a hospital is a huge oxymoron. The best is when they wake you from a sound sleep, and ask you if you need anything. "Yes sleep, so stop waking me up." LOL!
I was on the 6-th floor this time around, and it was one of the noisiest floors. The first time I was admitted, all of the rooms were full except in Pediatrics, which was great because, it was just me and a few little ones. I never heard a peep out of them. It is upsetting when you hear "Code Blue Stat." loudly coming over the intercom in the middle of the night. So sad. :(

Linda :)

Have a good evening.

Hi Marie, :)
You would think the least they could do is give me a multi-visit discount. LOL! We had the cable tv removed 13-yrs ago, and until now, I never missed it. I really miss Home and Garden, and all of the decorating shows. I have been resting and trying to relax, which is hard when you see all the things around you that need to be done.
Have a good evening.
Hugs,
Linda :)

You need a pair of blinders, Linda! ;)
I am amazed that you still get television reception without cable. Around here, once they switched over to Digital TV last June, that was the end of network TV for us. I bought a cable converter and we didn't get some stations and the ones we got, the sound would cut out, and sometimes the picture would get all "pixely".
You might be a little disappointed in the HGTV that's on now (I AM!) - soooo many real estate type shows. There are very few crafts shows (and they're on very early in the morning) and nothing like that show, "Country Style" or "Room by Room" anymore.
I hope you get some restful sleep.
Hugs,
Kim

Hi ChapterTwo, :)
We don't watch T.V. at all. Once we got rid of the cable, the reception is not that good even with an antenna. The kids didn't miss it. They read more, played outside more, and their school grades improved. They had good grades to begin with, but this just helped them along a bit. We do rent DVDS and watch the new releases. The reason we got rid of the cable was, one day the two oldest girls, they were probably 4 and 12, well they got all giggly, and when I went to see what was so funny, the TV was snowy. But then it happened. The adult channel came through crystal clear. And this is what they had found so amusing. I didn't. I called the cable company and told them what my children and I just had seen. They said they had a malfunction with their de-scrambler, so people like me, that didn't subscribe to this program, were getting it any way. I told them to come out immediately, and shut this off, and to collect their box. And they did. By doing this, I know what my kids are watching, even if I am not in the room with them. :)
Hugs & Love,
Linda :)

I don't blame you one bit, Linda. I would have done the same thing!
That is inexcusable on the part of the cable company.
Honestly, there's not much on network or cable these days. I am alone a lot now so I just like it for "background company" while I'm working....pathetic as that may sound! :o

Hi ChapterTwo, :)
No, that doesn't sound pathetic at all. Since having the surgery, I have the radio on. I can't stand the silence. My reasoning with cancelling the cable T.V. was, if it happened once, it certainly could happen again. And I made sure it wouldn't. My husband and I were also getting sick and tired of paying the high price for cable, and getting trash for programs. I can only take so many shopping networks, reality T.V. shows, and infomercials. Even some of the shows they had aired were terrible. This one is sleeping with this one and that one. And then that one was with this one again, along with being with that one's brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, mother, aunt, uncle or father. And or.... all of them. No wonder these people were never shown sleeping. They couldn't find the time to fit it in. LOL!
They were sneaking in profanity which I didn't want to have to explain some of the words to my kids. You maybe have guessed because I had mentioned this, I had to do just that. I tried to be truthful, but with out too much information. :o
Hugs,
Linda :)

That's one of my biggest pet peeves regarding living in today's times. It must be extremely difficult to keep kids "innocent". I'm very old-fashioned where that is concerned, and some of the things I hear on commercials for movies and TV shows practically curl my hair!
And if children hear these things on TV, and have no guidance from responsible adults, how can they possibly know that they are not words to be used in polite society? (Is there such a thing anymore? :o)
Anyway, if I had young children nowadays, I'd probably go the "No TV" route too, Linda.

I gave up cable when I moved to my condo because I didn't want to pay the high price for it when I hardly ever watched TV. It's been six years, and I don't miss it. If there's a series I really want to see, I can buy a whole season on DVD for what it would cost me for a month of shows I didn't want. There are a lot of shows you can watch online, too, if your connection is good enough I think the time is going to come when cable service becomes obsolete and we'll be able to pay only for the content we want. We may pay more for it, but at least we'll be able to control it, and that's probably worth a little more.
Regarding keeping your kids innocent...even without tv, that's not likely to happen unless you're also homeschooling them. I hear far worse language (and see far worse behavior) in the halls of the junior high I work in than I do on tv. And, joy of joys, I get to experience all that "culture" for free! :)
I have returned to my parents' pre-war pastime, which is listening to the radio. I'm an NPR junkie. Radio is something I can listen to while I do something else without having to have my attention on a screen, and I really like that. When a tv is on, I have a hard time looking away from it, so doing anything else at the same time is next to impossible.

Precisely! There still are polite words, you just can't hear them over the loud profanity of todays society. The words I have heard come out of some of these kids mouths. Even if I would have said damn it. I would have gotten the bar of soap. Too many parents are lackadaisic, and just let these conversations with these inappropriate words slide on by them. Profanity has become a part of their every day vocabulary. Like you had said, if they aren't taught that it is wrong, then how will they know? Sad.
Hugs,
Linda :)

Being a teacher ShabbyChick, I am sure you get quite a different education first had from some of these kids. I have actually had to ask my kids what some of these slang words were that I had heard while out and about. The problem is, society is tired and busy, and tend to take the road less traveled. It is easier for a parent to let inappropriate behavior slide, than it is to listen to the hooting and hollering if that child were to be grounded. I let mine hoot and holler all they wanted. In our house there are rules, respect, and supervision. I can't tell you how many times our kids would say, well this one's mother lets them do this or that. Well I would say. I am not their parent, so what they do has no baring on you, now does it? LOL! I think children need consequences for their actions.
