I've always been interested in a town's Main St. I was up at my home town, Wanganui last weekend and Victoria Avenue was looking great. What does your Main Street look like? :)

Well, it ain't New York City, but I like it!
Attaching pics from a New York Times article about Norris, TN, the town I live in. First pic is our Town Center, i.e. Post Office (where you have to actually go to get your mail!), Rx, and Grocery Store; shot of the commons across the street, and our Monday afternoon Farmer's Market with the Middle School in the background. The school property adjoins the Town Center area.

That's great folks. I love the shot of your trees in fall Allen. Your local McD's has horse parking Vintagegirl????:). Cheers for sharing, very interesting!

Rory,
Our entire town is based around the horses. All of our businesses have horse parking including Bobs Big Boy and Polly Pies:D We do not have sidewalks, but horsetrails instead. Even though our official name is Norco, we are known as Horsetown USA:)

I will try to get pics on Saturday. By the time I am done with work it is getting dark here. Ugg I hate this time change.
Nice picture (s) Roy, and Vintage girl!
Our Main Street - called Race Street has an event called "2nd Saturday"- the shops stay open until 8:00- and the restaurants have music etc. Also there are horse and buggy rides through the historical town.

I drove uptown tonight to take some pics to show our little town square. We actually have a beautiful courthouse, but that is about all that is up there. It has always been quite pretty at Christmas time. The light strands that come from the top of the courthouse and down, can be seen from a couple miles out of town as you approach the city.

There was a time when it was an ok place to be. Not anymore. We have no shopping in our town except for Super Walmart, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and 3 Drugstores, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid. 1 grocery store, GoodWill, and a couple little shops uptown that close up at 5 pm. We are probably around population of 8000/9000 now. Our unemployment rate is above 10% here, including my hubby. We want to get out. ;) Many industries have faltered in the past 3 years.
I will say that our city has always decorated for the holidays quite well.
