Austin left yesterday at 4:30 to drive back home to Columbus. He did not get home till 11:00 p.m. It normally takes him 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on traffic and roads. Something happened around the 23/I 270 area (Worthington), and he sat in traffic trying to get onto 270 for over 2 1/2 hours. He called me and asked if there was anything in the trunk to eat, as I had sent him a few groceries. I wonder if he found the bread and lunch meat and gallon of milk. ;)

I tried to get him to leave earlier, but he wanted to stay till his dad got home. Maybe next time he will listen. Columbus was to get 6 to 9 inches of snow, I don't know exactly what they got.

He called me at 11 pm and said was home, he was not happy. I am glad he made it safe, but home next time "Maybe he will listen to momma". :p

I heard on the news this morning there was a 40 car pileup at Columbus, but not sure where it was, so not sure if that was the long delay.

He got home safe and that is what mattered. I really had no idea Columbus got the amounts of snow they have this year....

Marie, this is what I found, online. I know you mentioned a pileup, and I'd think it somehow impacted where Austin was:

HERALD-DISPATCH
FEB. 15, 2010, 6:01 P.M.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol in Ohio has shut down a 29-mile stretch of Interstate 71 north of Columbus because of snowy conditions that caused numerous traffic accidents.

Minor injuries were reported Monday. It was unclear how long the southbound lane of Interstate 71 in Delaware County would remain closed. The northbound lane remained open but traffic was moving very slowly.

The Columbus area is under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service said up to 9 inches of snow is expected.

As for this <<Maybe next time he will listen. >> Nah, they seldom do! :D

Thanks. He just called and colleges are cancelled. He said they got a foot of snow. He said he came close to running out of gas sitting in the traffic.....He left on a full tank, and it takes about a 1/2 tank to get there normally. He is home safe. He said he still doesn't know exactly why everything was backed up, he said maybe the hills on 23 going into Columbus, he said nothing had been plowed, and he saw lots of people in the ditch and stuck. I am go glad he was being look after from above. :) He is home safe and I told him to stay there.
