We finally got our vintage cabinet!!!! there is an antique mall in Billings that is closing their doors so we took a look (I'd scoped it out earlier) and my dh liked the one I saw and it was a good price ($295 with another 20% off), has some of the innards still in it and in good shape so it was sold!! Good thing I made him grab the tag becasue while he was in line there was a lady next to him inquiring on the price because she wanted it. You snooze you lose!;) Anyway we need to find someone with a pickup to get it to our house and I need to now figure out wehre it is going but sucess was ours. Now to find some of the accessories for it and to soak the hardware and get the paint off of htem. Not sure I want to strip the body of it, it is a good color for the kitchen so I may just leave it.

I also picked up some old baby photos. Still amazes me that people sell their family photos but their loss is my gain. Me and a fellow shopper were laughing about how you can buy those photos and make up stories about them and nobody can argue with you. Have an idea floating around in my mind on what to do with them, just need to think it thru some more.

I saw a set of those Pink Strawberry Pyrex bowls you love so much. No I didn't buy them for you though, way too much money and you are much better at getting the good deals. But I did think of you while shopping. :D We also took a pic of a dummy that we thought was quirky funny, just need to get dh to send the camera phone pic to my computer so I can send it to you. The dummy looks like he is screaming in panic right there in a stall.

Congrats on getting the Hoosier:)!! I love mine. Does yours still have any of the inside labels? Mine is a Kitchen Maid and still has the big label inside the side door that shows where to store everything in the cabinet, as well as the flour sifter and sugar canister. I keep most of my baking items in the cabinet, but don't use the flour sifter or sugar canister.

Neverfinised~I can't believe you sold yours at a yard sale!!

neverfinished, I too am kicking myself. My dad had an apartment above his practice and when the tenant died she had a hoosier that I wanted. My DH thought it was ugly and didn't want to cart it down the very tiny staircase so we left it behind, sigh.....

Would love to see a pic, congrat's on the great buy Chyna!

I hope you both get a chance to own another one sometime:). I have a copy of an article about people that collect them. I'm not sure where they find the room for all of them, but it would be fun to own several, as there are so many different styles of them.

Far as I remember there was no sticker in there but I know what you are talking about. There was a Hoosier at Granny's Attic that still had the sticker that we talked about getting last year but we weren't solvent enough then to get it. Once we get it home I'll have to look it over and see if I can determine what brand it is. When we looked at it there was baking stuff piled on it, we had to restrain ourselves from snatching them up too. :o

My grandparents had a couple of those type of cabinets on their entry porch that my grandpa left when he and his new wife traded houses with my aunt/uncle. I still kick myself for not grabbing one of them when the furniture was being split up. As it were my aunt owns an antique store so you can guess what happened to them.

We have it home now and it is sitting in my sun porch. Not sure when it will be allowed into the house since I have no idea where to put it right now. Suddenly my kitchen got super small! The continuing mantra is "this summer after the addition is done...." once that mammoth fridge is gone out of there and into the pantry/laundry room them we can talk location. :)

I've looked for a tag telling me the manufacturer and not finding it right now. did a little research last week and I have many choices. We do know a few things though, it has been painted many times, it is missing the roll down door and missing a few parts but other than that it is in good condition. I think the back has been replaced at some point but for all I know that could be original. If replacement they did a good job of nailing and measuring. Jason wants to strip it and see the wood. Me I'm thinking I like it painted better. And that could be the original finish. In any case I do want to remove the hardware and soak the paint off of them. One glass knob and then the chrome finish knobs, pulls and hinges. All the hardware matches so again that is good!:D
