Lots of white candles, antique chippy cement religious statues, touches of nature and just not a lot of stuff to clutter the room and mind. I've not renewed any of my magazine subscriptions as of late and only receive one, a danish publication loaded with wonderful dreamy pictures. As of I think 2 issues ago they now have an english text so I can read along with drooling at all the pictures! I took this new approach at Christmas and pretty much only decorated with candles, greenery and fruit. Slowly beginning the editing process...

I have always loved the look you are describing. I am more of a color person, but still admire this simple clean look. Even though it is very light, it is also very warm:)

You're right I think sometimes white can be sterile and cold. But I think the warmth comes from the colors of nature that they bring inside their homes. The thought behind the scandinavians using so much white I believe is because of their long dark winters.

It could also be because they have small houses. White brightens and makes a house look bigger and having a small space there is no room for clutter. When I moved into a tiny place, I had to scale down on clutter, because all the small knicknacks I had overpowered the place. I do have a lot of color in my house, but the idea of having a blank slate with punches of color appeals to me.
