The wind chill is 11 degrees. No wonder I sit here with a blanket wrapped around me thinking of how I can decorate coastal. ;) I so am not ready for winter weather. We have about 1 inch of snow on the ground here in NW Ohio.

I'm not a fan of cold weather, either, Marie. Sorry you are having such frosty weather. At least your snow is pretty to look at out the windows.

After our last two very cold winters, we seemed to have settled into a warmer one this year. It has been in the 50s this week and our high on Friday is supposed to 67! I won't be surprised if it turns out to be a little cooler than that, but it will probably be at least in the upper 50s. There is still time for snow and freezing weather ahead for us.

Oh my, that is cold! You probably don't want to hear this, but we were up to 84 today and also in the low to mid 80's all weekend and yesterday. They are expecting the warm weather to last through the rest of the week. I will try and send some warm sunshine your way:D

I don't really mind the cold so much - it's losing all the greens leaves, grass and flowers. Everything is so brown this time of year but it gives us spring to look forward to.
It was on the cool side today but sunny with blue skies. Just as long as the sun is out it's all good!;)

It's warmish here, too. It's 6:30 p.m. and 50 degrees, which is unusual for our winters. I already have some kind of bulb pushing up through the soil outside! It has been a highly unusual winter for us. I'm kind of hoping for an early, warm spring this year. Spring has been delayed till summer the last two years, and it's death on spring crops!

Beautiful flowers Rory......guess I will start country hopping during the winter months......guess whose coming to dinner?:D Really, it seems so weird to think you are opposite us in the weather.

What a breath of fresh air to see flowers growing, Rory!

One of my Christmas gifts was two purple hyacinth bulbs, a pot and soil, which I loved! The bulbs are just started to poke up through the soil - it was a simple, but perfect gift. I am so plant starved in winter...:o

Gorgeous flowers Rory. I have not gotten around to pruning my rose garden yet, and now they have started blooming again due to the warm weather. We are a bit cooler today with a high of only 72:)

Oh, is THAT all? HaHaHa! I woke up on Wednesday to 13 degrees - not fun! We're having a weather roller coaster this year and today it's back up to 49, and I'm thankful for that.

I'm going to keep remembering what 72 feels like.... Enjoy!

You know what is funny is that if it gets below 60, we all think we are freezing here;) I would probably keel over in 13 degrees:eek::D

The weather here today was like spring - warm and sunny!:)

We have that weather here, today, Breezy! It's a sunny 60 degrees. I have a very bad head cold but I bundled up and sat out in my swing for about 20 minutes, to soak up the sun. I started looking around the yard, mentally planning what I'll plant when spring finally comes. :)

So far, except for our October snowstorm, I really can't complain about the weather. Let's hope we make it through without too much cold. ;)

We've had snow pretty much constantly since last Sunday. I haven't been in school all week. This is my kind of schedule! Temperatures have been in the 20s, and in parts of the region they had ice storms today, something rare in our neck of the woods. I've shoveled the driveway multiple times this week and am now hoping to be done for awhile. I can hear Starbuck's calling me. I think the lattes are lonely. It's supposed to warm up overnight and start melting all this snow, and I'm ready for it now. But the week off was really, really nice.

I'd heard about your weather, Shabby, and thought of you. I have a cousin who lives on Vashon Island. I don't know where that is in relation to you - I think it's nearby.
There's nothing like a snow day, or week, is there? ;)

Cute snowman. I have a niece that lives in Issaqua.

It is 5 degrees this morning and we are under a storm watch. Supposed to have 3 to 5 inches of snow starting tonight thru tomorrow.......If you go to Wallyworld today it will be a zoo as people act like we are going to have a blizzard.;)

Well we have been very very cold. Only 34 right now and only expected to get to 68 today, and rain forecast for tomorrow and possible sunday. Does not sound cold compared to the rest of you guys, but for Southern CA it is. We are not used to cold weather like this:eek:

Have seen the reports of your crazy snow Shabby and was wondering how you were doing. I sure wish I could have a week off from my school:D Love the snowman:)

It's a snow being. I don't like to discriminate. :)

Our high today will be in the mid-60s and then we'll have heavy rain and storms tonight and more heavy rain tomorrow. There have already been tornadoes down in south AR and AL--sure hope we're not gearing up a repeat of last spring's storms!

Rain and cold yesterday, highs to only 60's today, but will be in the 80's by Thursday. High winds starting tomorrow. Very crazy up and down weather for us so far. Hope those experiencing extreme weather conditions are safe.

Very crazy up and down weather for us so far.

It's the same on the East Coast, vintage girl. It was 53 here, today, and it was 13 the other morning! I took a stroll in my yard today to find the sedum starting to sprout at the soil line. Also, my foxglove plant is still green and fairly vibrant, which seems really strange. Then again, our grass is still pretty green too. Wacky weather...;)

In the 50's here too along our area of the Eastern Shore- almost feels like sweater weather!

Ditto weather in East TN. We have had a few very cold days (i.e., low 20's), but it has otherwise been pretty mild. No serious snow yet -- a trend that I hope holds for the rest of the winter! We went out yesterday to cut back some plants to get ready for spring. Normally, this is when we cut our butterfly bushes way back, but, like Chapter Two's foxglove, the butterfly bush is still green and growing. That's really odd; maybe a late winter coming??

This mild winter has me worried. Normally when we have mild winters, it means we will have a very very very hot summer:eek:

RoseMary

I don't know how the weather theories work. Last winter was extremely cold for us and last summer was extremely HOT for us. And I mean HOT--our garden burned to a crisp-no amount of watering helped it. Old folk lore says a cold winter means a hot summer--which we had. But, this winter has been very mild for us, so I'm crossing my fingers that summer will be milder.

Still, I preferred the hot, hot summer to the crazy, wild spring we had. I'm praying there is not a repeat of storms like we endured then.

On our local news...it was said that so far this winter we are on the 2nd least snowy winter on record. So far, I have only cleaned off the driveways 2 times, 1 inch and approximately 3 inches. No snow on the ground at the moment.

I think, so far, Alaska is the state getting the real winter! We had a couple of small (less than an inch) snows in December, but nothing since then. January and February are usually our coldest months, but next week all of our highs are supposed to be in the 60s.

It's sad to say but I think because of the global climate changes, the old folk lore, which my parents swore by, is not holding true anymore.

It seems that, nowadays, any type of weather can come at any month of the year. Of course, that makes planning for events like outdoor weddings even more difficult than it used to be!
