I cannot believe this is happening!!! I just got a call from my sister and she is at the hospital with my mom. My mom has some ongoing health problems which are now surfacing again. She may have to be admitted. I am just waiting to hear from my sister. If she is not admitted, she does not want me to drive all the way down there. I am at work, which is over 60 miles away. But I am a nervous wreck. I keep hoping no news is good news, as I have not heard from my sister in almost an hour. Please keep us in your prayers. I really don't think I can handle this right now. I don't think I can enter that hospital again. I think I am just going to head out there. I cannot stand this waiting.

I'll be praying for your mom--and you, vintagegirl. Be careful on your drive up there.
Hugs,

Oh, vintage girl...no news IS often good news, but you'll feel better if you're there. It's good it's Friday as I'd think that makes things a bit easier for you, re work.
Please be careful driving and I hope things simmer down and there is nothing seriously wrong with your Mom. Thoughts and prayers go along with you!

VG- sorry to hear about your mom. I hope you made it there to visit and check her progress. Let us know when you can. I am thinking of you and sending prayers and warm wishes.
This has been a terribly hard spring emotion wise with all the losses we have all incurred.

Mom is fine, thank god! She has degenerative disks in her back. She was in such pain that she could not even stand. By the time I got to the hospital, they had gotten the pain at a more tolerable level. We brought her home and she went to bed and stayed there until dinnertime. My mom does not have any options other than surgery, but is to fragile to have that. I have been advocating for her going to a pain control clinic. I have a phone appt with her provider on Monday to look into that. I was just thankful it was her back and nothing else. My daughter and I are heading back out there on Sunday to go to church with her and spend the day with her. I am going to take a look at her mattress and see if maybe she needs a new one or a topper. Maybe that will help out her back. Thanks for all the prayers. I was beside myself when I first got the call and had to come here for your support. I cannot tell you what it has meant to me. Thanks so so much.

Vintage girl...I'm glad it was nothing needing immediate action, your Mom is out of the hospital, and you are back home.
My Mom had osteoporosis, stenosis of the spine, and degeneration of the discs, as well as Alzheimer's...so I know a little about the pain your Mom is going through. And it's so hard on you and your family to watch her endure pain and discomfort.
I did eventually take my mother to a pain management center and I felt they were more in tune with what she needed than her other doctor.
As for the mattress, another suggestion is the tried and true idea of putting a piece of wood under the mattress - that helped my Mom.
Try to take it a little easier today, if you can, vg. You've had a long haul...

vintage girl - Glad to know your mom is home and it was nothing "major".
A new mattress might greatly help and CT's suggestion of putting a board under the mattress could help too.
Hope your mother is feeling better - best wishes.

Oh, good news about your mom, vintagegirl. I'm so glad that it was nothing too serious. I hope you can find some things that will make her pain a little easier.
Hugs,
R~Mary
Vintage girl--- I hope your mom finds some restful solutions... pain can be so horrible, and watching someone in pain hurts so much, ---and so glad to hear she's not in the hospital. You must have been beside yourself- so scarey.
