I wasn't even looking for this great find...but there it was at a local thrift store...a large (heavy) cottage farm table. Instantly I fell in LOVE with it, and had to have it... And guess what????? It was only 25 dollars- now who could have passed this up? I already have a table, but it was a bit too small for the beach house kitchen...(so sad :D) so I will use the smaller table as a sewing table...Boy when you least expect it- there is something that you have to have. Has this ever happened to you??? ;)

Also the nature pic was taken this morning off our dock...swans, seagulls flying high, and a hundreds of Canadian Geese...it was so peaceful.

I LOVE thrift stores, and it really is hit and miss, but there are two in this little waterfront town. I also find a full size bed skirt for 1.00...Yes I am doing the happy dance. I love re-use, re-purpose, recycle...:);)

I agree, Gigi~the adventure is really what it's all about:).

I went to the flea market yesterday and found a very pretty set of (3) porcelain cannisters. I was looking for some planters for indoors, and these will be perfect! I got them for $5~much cheaper than I'd have had to pay at Wal Mart.

I'm so excited! I went to the Salvation Army and found two lamps from the 1970's. They're big and arty and just the kind of thing you'd see in a slightly modern cottage. I found out that you can have Sherwin Williams put a custom color into a spray can. I want to find the perfect color to paint the base of the lamps. Then I'm going to try to do something unique with the barrel shaped shades. I'm looking at stickers at wonderfulgraffiti.com and stencils at modernmasters.com The big news is that the lamps were $30 a piece at the thrift store, but I went on discount day and got them for $4 each. :) :) :) Pictures will be forthcoming!

I also bought a classroom sized chalk board for $5! I've always wanted one!

Lisa you got quite the deal. Can't wait to see the pics.

I never find anything at our thrift shops. I think we have some savvy shoppers here that can find a diamond in the rough, obviously I'm not one.

Gigi

Say what? Sherwin Williams will do a custom paint in a spray can??? My mind is turning---I also have some lamps (that came with our beach home)--that are gold- but I want to make them a "cottage color" of white, or brush silver, etc...

Can't wait to see your pics Lisa.

Isn't that the neatest thing? I can't remember where I heard that but when I called Sherwin Williams, they confirmed that indeed they offer thatr service. The guy said it was expensive, so I braced myself. I'm thinking, "I'd be willing to spend up to $15 a can"... In reality, it costs $7 + the cost of paint. I think that's a very fair price for getting EXACTLY what you want.;)

We have a Sherwin Williams in the town where out beach house is located-ummmm I will have to visit them. I think the hard part will be taking the lamp apart- when I go the beach house again-I will take a picture of the lamps.

Yeah, me too! I'm working on our school auction again, so my real life is on hold until after April 4th.

I found a really amazing oak sideboard-kind-of-thing for $40 a few weeks ago. It needs to be completely refinished, so I'll work on it when the weather gets better. You're gonna LOVE it!

I'm just catching up here for the moment, 'cause I miss you all too much.

Funny, I totally forgot about the sideboard. It's been in the garage since we brought it home. If it's not right in front of me at the moment, it's out of mind. I'm going to have fun getting back to my real life.

What a beautiful plate! It would look great on plate stand and put on display...so pretty!

Here are a couple of my recent Goodwill finds. I found a large HEAVY antique mirror the other day for just $12.99! I couldn't believe it! I don't know if I want to paint it or not. I've been on the lookout for a mirror like this for a while now!

Also, I'm really loving the vintage style metal photo frame and picked up a small collection of them at GW as well. They were all about $6 total. I think black and white family photos would look sweet in them.

Anyone else have any thrift store finds to share?

Gigi

Now that I've been talking with all of you and seeing the wonderful things you're doing with your thrift shop finds, I keep seeing all these cute tables and dressers at Value Village or St. Vincent's and thinking how I could dress them up. I hate leaving them behind, but I can't think of anywhere else I could possibly fit another table unless I hang it from the ceiling! Maybe I should take them home, paint them up, and then just bring them back to donate again just for the fun of it!
