How to Create Beautiful Stylish Artwork on a Budget
Adding a touch of sophistication to your living space doesn’t have to break the bank. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how I transformed two large blue frames and a gingham print tablecloth into stunning pieces of large scale stylish art that will elevate the decor in any room. Let’s get started!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Two large frames ( I found mine on a clearance rack)
- A gingham print tablecloth or piece of fabric with your favorite pattern
- Two color-coordinated art prints, and two solid color-coordinated craft sheets (downloaded or purchased)
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape, duct tape, Glazier push points
- Ruler
- Pencil or Pen
Step 1: Prepare Your Frames Begin by removing any existing artwork or inserts from your frames. Clean them to ensure they’re dust-free and ready for your new creation.
Step 2: Select Your Tablecloth Choose a print tablecloth ( or piece of fabric ) with a pattern you love. This will serve as the background for your artwork. Make sure it’s large enough to fit within your frames.
Step 3: Making a Pattern Lay your tablecloth out on a clean surface. Place one of the frame backing inserts on the tablecloth. Use a ruler and a pencil to draw a cutting pattern approximately two inches outside the edges of the insert. Repeat this step for the second frame.
Step 4: Trim the Tablecloth Carefully cut along the marked lines using scissors. Then place the tablecloth face down and lay the insert on it. Wrap the edges and use duct tape to secure it to the insert.
Step 5: Prepare Your Art Print Download or purchase a color-coordinating art print that complements your tablecloth. Make sure it’s the right size to fit within your frames. Back it with solid color coordinating paper to make it pop off of your patterned tablecloth. (My prints are downloaded from an online seller)
Step 6: Attach the Art Print Apply a small amount of glue or double-sided tape to the back of your art print. Center it on the cut-out section of your tablecloth. Press it down firmly to secure it in place. Repeat the process for the second frame.
Step 7: Reassemble the Frames Carefully place the insert into the frame. Secure the inserts into the frames with clips or Glazier push points, making sure everything is secure.
Step 8: Hang Your Beautiful Art Now that your stylish art pieces are ready, have some fun finding the perfect spot to hang them.
Creating stunning and personalized art on a budget is not only easy but also incredibly rewarding. With just a few materials and some creativity, you can add a touch of sophistication to your home decor. Try different color combinations and patterns to suit your style and watch your space transform into a work of art! Enjoy your new home masterpiece!
