Florals, twinkle lights and faux snow cozy up this California home.
Toni Mogensen, our very first Brand Ambassador in 2021, impressed us then with her effervescent personality and her beautiful styling—and she has never stopped impressing us! So, who better to ask for fresh ideas to bring the spirit of the holidays into your home?
Toni and her husband, Bryan, lead a busy life with three children and a pup, but they still manage to keep their home up to date and always improving. Bryan built the fireplace surround to Toni’s specs and she does her magic with it, changing up the décor as the mood strikes. Shown here are two versions of her holiday designs. “I’m into layers and varying heights of pieces to keep the eye moving and interested. And candlelight is a must!” she says.
This year, Toni was inspired by the deep-red geraniums she scored on a summer sale. Living in California allows her to have both real and faux florals all year ’round and the holidays are no exception. “I love mixing old with new, blending the holidays, like displaying my pumpkins with a twinkling Christmas tree for Thanksgiving, so why not keep my summer geraniums for Christmas, too?” she says.
Toni used tiny nails on the wood mantel and hung the first layers of faux greenery onto the nails. Then she wrapped a second layer of greenery around the first layer. She added a garland that came adorned with sugared fruit and ornaments, and then topped it off with a twinkling star garland.
Toni added simple ribbon, textured stockings and a sprinkle of sparkling faux snow. The village fit perfectly inside the fireplace and coordinates with the village under the tree. “I really wanted a snowy, twinkling, sugared look—and it finally all came together!” she says.
