Introducing Southern Crafted Shutters

Southern Crafted Shutters: Where Craftsmanship Meets Home

We are delighted to present our preferred partner for exterior shutters for Project House Austin! It was a delight to work with them and in a world of shortcuts and quick installs, Southern Crafted Shutters brings something refreshingly rare: shutters made with intention, by people who still believe in doing things the right way.

Shown above are Endurance Traditional Shutters: Classic hinged louvered shutters with a classic black finish that elevates curb appeal while offering long-lasting durability. On the side is the Endurance Bahama Shutter. The shutters are all aluminum; powder coated and include Endurance Bead Moulding.

Kristin and Adam bring innate interests and passions to this American company. Kristin grew up in New England, where the homes whispered history from every corner—weathered cedar shakes, paneled doors, and shutters that told stories of generations past. She always found herself wondering why things were built the way they were. Adam, on the other hand, was the kind of engineer who couldn’t help but take things apart just to put them back together—better. When the two combined their passions, they found a shared love for craftsmanship and character.

The Endurance Closed Louver Traditional Shutter with Faux Control Rod is a functional-style shutter that gives the look of operable louvers, complete with authentic hardware for a timeless façade.

Their story began in a garage, where they hand-built solid wood doors using age-old techniques like mortise and tenon joinery. It was more sawdust than glamor, but it sparked something lasting. Soon, an opportunity to craft shutters came along, and they jumped in—grateful to move the saws and sanding blocks out of the garage and into a real workshop.
Today, Southern Crafted Shutters operates out of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, where a dedicated team of craftsmen still makes each shutter by hand, honoring the traditions of old-world woodworking while embracing modern durability. These shutters don’t just frame windows—they frame stories.

These Endurance Bahama Shutters create a cozy, private outdoor retreat while still letting light and air through—a practical solution for dense neighborhoods.

But what truly sets them apart is how they treat their customers. From the moment an order is placed, clients receive weekly, personalized video updates—giving a behind-the-scenes look at their project as it comes to life. It’s a rare kind of service in today’s world, but for Southern Crafted, it’s just part of the process.
Their commitment to craftsmanship doesn’t stop at the workbench. Through a partnership with the local high school’s Work-Based Learning program, Southern Crafted welcomes students into the fold—offering hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, and customer care. It’s an investment in the future of trades, and in the timeless value of making something with your hands.

A modern twist on Bahama shutters—this privacy wall provides airflow, style, and seclusion for a porch or patio with the Endurance True Louver Privacy Wall. A combination of louvers and panels make up the unique design.

Whether it’s a Bahama shutter for a sun-soaked porch or traditional panels for a farmhouse façade, Southern Crafted Shutters brings beauty, function, and heart to every project. Because home should feel both timeless and deeply personal—and the details should never be an afterthought.

A stunning example of how Bahama and traditional shutters can be combined to add dimension and charm across a home’s elevation. Shown here are the Endurance Bahama Shutters with Architectural Stays plus matching Traditional Shutters.

These top-hinged Endurance Bahama Shutters add shade, privacy and protection from the elements to a poolside structure—perfect for both aesthetics and functionality. All aluminum with powder coating and Endurance Bead Moulding, they are made to withstand the elements.

Project House Austin was designed and built by Cottage & Key Design Studio, who selected the Endurance Closed Louver Shutter.

In selecting a Project House Austin shutter partner, we were impressed with a wide variety of advantages that Southern Crafted Shutters offers, including:
• Made-to-order, handcrafted shutters manufactured in the USA using durable, long-lasting materials (aluminum and wood composite).
• Exceptional customer experience with personalized weekly video updates from their team—giving customers a behind-the-scenes look at their order’s progress and building trust throughout the process.
• Local partnerships with high school trade programs through Work-Based Learning—giving students real hands-on experience in manufacturing and craftsmanship.
• A wide range of traditional and Bahama styles, thoughtfully designed to blend architectural beauty with practical performance (shade, privacy, and ventilation).
• They guide every customer personally, helping them choose the right shutters for their style, climate, and budget—making the process smooth and enjoyable.
• Their customers consistently highlight their responsiveness, professionalism, high-quality craftsmanship, and unique service—earning us glowing reviews and loyal referrals.
• Shutters that combine function and curb appeal—helping reduce heat from direct sun, increase privacy, and elevate home exteriors.
