Though the name can be misleading, china cabinets did not originate in China. They started in England in the 17th century at the request of Queen Mary. The Queen loved “china,” carefully crafted ceramics from the East, so she had custom cabinets built to display them. The design then spread throughout Europe and America. Now, it’s a unique and versatile piece of furniture that proved it can stand the test of time. Early versions were almost all ornate and adhered to a very extravagant and traditional style. But as style and design evolved, so did the look of china cabinets.

Modern Day Magic

Today, they can be sleek and modern, bright and cheery, or charming and country. No matter what look you’re going for, china cabinets are a sure fire way to optimize storage space while creating a beautiful and neat display. Some even contain mirrored backs to accentuate and highlight your pieces, interior lights to add flair, or adjustable shelving to accommodate different sized items. These versatile pieces will show off your individual personality and sense of style, no matter what items you want to display. From traditional china, antiques, prized possessions, or just unique pieces that caught your eye, china cabinets have you covered!
